So I"ve been watching Densha Otoko and find it pretty entertaining. It's basically about an otaku who goes dating for the first time. They made him really timid and socially awkward but makes for pretty hilarious moments that makes me laugh out loud.
It does make me miniseries and also occasionally feel sad because I empathize with the character a lot.
At other times his bod language and facial expressions are so over the top it sometimes reminds me of an asian version of steve erkel because of it's obnoxious.
I"m unsure about the characters themselves. The guy exaggerates so much in body language. But this over-exaggerated characters aren't exclusive to only the main character but a large cast of characters that support him on an online forum. Those guys....are probably the main comedic force of this series. I've laughed so many times based on their little snipes and 1 second cuts. They almost remind me of the muppets.

To me this anime is a mixed bag of emotions. I laugh often but sometimes for some reason I feel really lonely and sad watching this. The most fun though is rooting for the main character along with the rest of the muppet staff. xD
Btw does anyone know if this Japanese sign that says love is a real landmark? I would love to go visit it someday and take a picture next to it!

I have the opening song stuck in my head. Who knew how much
history and symbolism is behind it. =o I didn't. I think it's pretty aweome that they use that opening as the opening to the AMV convention in Japan. Anyways. It's not a totally awesome series but considering that I never watch J-live stuff like TV dramas or movies this is really exceptional.
