Cast has been announced for Noitamina's anime adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist author Hiromu Arakawa's best-selling farming manga Silver Spoon. Arakawa drew on her upbringing as a Hokkaido farmer to write the story of bright student Yugo Hachiken who schemes to get away from his family by enrolling in an agricultural school that requires students to reside in its dorms, only to find it more work than he had envisioned VGP-BPS13/B.
As unlikely as it might sound, the manga has been a smash hit, winning this year's Manga Taishō award and warranting million copy print runs.
Sword Art Online's Tomohiko Ito will direct the show with assistance from Kotomi Deai (SAO's second ending). Usagi Drop's Taku Kishimoto is on scripts with Mardock Scramble's Jun Nakai providing character designs.
