Artist Appreciation: Tatsuyuki Tanaka

Tatsuyuki Tanaka, is mostly known for his work in Key animation and story boarding, however he has some really fantastic art and also has done some directorial work in the form of shorts. His style has a very cyberpunk/steampunk theme to it and and uses a more subdued color palette. I really like his unique approach to creating art. Tanaka has worked on many anime such as Akira, Roujin Z, Batman: Gotham Knight and has worked as a director for Genius Part and Genius Party Beyond. Hope to see more of his work in the future.

How to make a successful Open World game

$

0
I made a list of things I would like to see Open world games do for me to consider them successful. I have yet to play a game that does all of this but some other open world game's I have played have done most of them. The Games that I used as reference for this list are Gothic 2 Night of the Raven, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption & Skyrim. Squash bugs, glitches, and other technical and performance issues. It's no secret that open world games will have lots of bugs at release but developers can always try to squash as much as possible. Quite frankly, this is one of my biggest issues with open world games. Having things like huge framerate drops, broken quests, deleted saves, AI & game freezes and more. It's really irritating playing a game and finding that you can't complete a quest because it's broken or your quick save becomes corrupted so you have to replay 2 hours worth of content again. No loading screens. This should be a rule and the only exception should be reloading saves and starting the game. The game should have a good content to size ratio. The larger the game world, the more content should be there but at the same time the content should be interesting and every difference counts. Make sure your open world makes sense in the context of the story/lore. If I'm on a battlefield, I don't expect hundreds of normal people to be walking around doing normal things. It doesn't make sense. Just like if I were in a desert, I'm not expecting hundreds of people just wandering around in the hot sun. The world itself should also be progressing as we play. I don't expect the world to be the exact same as what I saw and felt when I started the game. For the most part, this Same thing applies to the games characters. Limit the amount of fetch quests/missions, repetitive missions, mundane tasks, filler and chore side activities and reward the player some way for exploring. I don't think a lot of people like participating in filler material in a game and it becomes bothersome to the player especially in a second playthrough. Provide freedom for the player in how they can tackle their objective and limit linearity in exploration. I shouldn't always only have one way to get to somewhere except if said location is special, hidden or heavily guarded. Limit the amount of invisible walls and let the player traverse the world easily. I understand if the devs want to put a barrier in the game but there are ways to do this that can make sense. For example, Gothic 1 was set in a prison colony that was surrounded by a magic barrier that would let anything in but nothing out, it would shock you if you got too close. Make sure that game mechanics are actually good. Combat should function well, with little stiffness and have fluidity. If you have vehicular exploration make sure the vehicles controls well and it's mechanics functions properly, if you can explore on a horse make sure horse riding controls well works well. If on-foot exploration is the only way to go, make sure it works and controls well and the player is allowed to climb, run, jump, grab on things and do other things that make sense. Greatly limit the amount of grinding. If you have creatures in the world that can be killed to basically get experience, then make sure that they don't have unlimited spawning and they won't give you so much experience to greatly over level your character. One way to alleviate the problem is to split the story into chapters so that creatures only spawn in the beginning of chapters and their spawn points, amount of creatures spawned, and what creatures spawned are changed in the beginning of each chapter. Don't have unlimited resources in the world with exceptions. This is also on the issue of grinding, don't have unlimited herbs or crafting resources or items to pick up because the players will immediately exploit this. Do things in moderation and make sure certain items are far rarer than others. Have a day & night cycle, weather effects, different climate for different locations. It helps with the illusion that the world is alive. No static AI. Every AI in the game must have their own agenda as to what they do daily. People should be talking to each other, walking around, doing a job, going to sleep at the appropriate time. Let the AI do things. They should roam the world, take their horses for a ride, drive their car around to another store, even challenge the player to duels, try to steal from the player and more. AI should be reactive too. If you steal from them and you get caught, then they should either attempt to get their items back or call the authority on you. If you attack an AI they should attack back, flee or call the authority on you. If you do things against the AI then they shouldn't have a favorable opinion about you and can shun you from doing things. Have random events and random occurrences. Okay, this is something that a number of recent open world games tout but in reality they are somewhat scripted but they are good enough to fool the player. Having things that happen in the living world outside of a quest or mission that has nothing to do with the player but the player can still get involved helps with the illusion that the player can make an impact or is part of a living world. GTA V had this in which you can randomly find people robbing a store and you can kill them and return or take the money for yourself or help them and evade the police. Get rid of leveled enemies. You should remove or limit the amount of enemies that go by "level 10 skeleton" all the way up to "level 80" skeleton. Just increase the variety of creatures, monsters, mutants, aliens or whatever. A normal skeleton should have stats that stay the same throughout the game, an orc enemy should have stats that stay the same throughout the game. A fire dragon should have stats that stay the same but are different from the stats that an ice dragon has. Also, when enemies should spawn in places that make sense, no sense in seeing an ice wolf in a desert. Make sure to never allow the player to become to over powered, there should still be a sense of challenge from the beginning of the game till the end of the game and this ties into the enemy variety that I mentioned earlier. Let's say, in the beginning of the game you will mostly fight human or bandit level enemies during main missions, later on in the game you should be fighting warrior or paladin level enemies and this also applies for monsters too. Don't scale enemies and gear. You don't want to repeat the problem Elder Scrolls IV oblivion had by having bandits that had really high level gear. There should be some level of interactivity in the world whether it is having conversations with people or picking things up around the world, or killing any and everybody that you see, stealing, breaking into houses, looting dead people. Interactivity should be there, it should make sense and most interactive items should serve a purpose. If I kill a wolf and take it's teeth, I should be able to sell it's teeth or turn it in to someone. If I see a weapon laying on the ground, I should be able to pick it up. If you are going to have crap in your world, most of it should serve a purpose. Diverse locations should exist. Things like having a small town that had only intelligent super mutants living in it, or an underwater planet, or a giant prison colony. Your open world game should have somewhere that is cool or different from the norm in the world and it should be reflected by the people you find there, the items you find there and the story they tell. Choices and consequences for minuscule and major actions. If your game takes place in a civilized world then I expect a police force or authority to come after you. If I am carrying my gun out in the open and there are laws against it or the general populace freaks out about it, then I expect the people to flee, attack me, warn me or call the authority on me. If this is set in a world that doesn't have a general authority, then I expect people to take matters in their own hands. Have extra activities that can be done in the world to make the player feel like their character blow off steam in the world. Gothic 1 & 2 allow you to smoke various types of weed, Witcher 3 has gwent, GTA series has a huge variety of mini games like tennis, bike riding, racing and more.

A few months ago I posted a blog about getting to 100 anime! In that post I didn't know exactly how many anime I had watched, but soon after I counted up the amount. Soo.... in the year and a bit that I have been into anime, I have watched (which also includes read) around 50 series (or 52 to be slightly more precise)! This could mean that it will take another year for another 50 anime, or I could try to watch more anime and make it more of a race to 100 anime. I'm not sure what I will do yet.... Also, in the last blog I wrote about watching some anime. These are the ones: Charlotte - Watching Kanon - A few episodes in SAO II - Gave up half way Psycho Pass - Finished Haikyuu! - One Episode Kuroko no Basuke - have not watched past S1 yet... 48 more series to go! XD

How I evaluate the anime I watch or the manga I read. I must mention that I'm not the kind of individual who evaluates each and every anime and manga on each and every aspects of it. It is true that I believe the majority of them don't deserve giving them so much attention anyway, but even the highest scored anime and manga from my lists weren't analysed in a dissection kind of way. Most of the time I base my ratings on my general appreciation of the work, yet it remains accurate to say that I try to judge pretty much everything else – that I care for – in a very rational way. Nonetheless, despite the fact that I don't analyze everything in details, I still believe that I am able to tell the difference between the overall quality of a work and the enjoyment I get out of it. It's presently quite self-evident that I don't consider myself to be some significant critic, however, I still sometimes think – in some delusional moments – that I should do it in the right way, analyzing every aspects correctly, but I'm mostly lack any kind of motivation to accomplish such achievements on a weekly or monthly basis. Maybe one day I'll still let you enjoy some reviews of my own but it's very unlikely. At this very moment, I have only written one, but it was because I wanted people to discover a manga that I thought wasn't well known enough for what it was, and if I write an another review in the future, it will probably be with this in mind. I'm not going to review any anime or manga that everyone knows about, otherwise there would be no interest to do so. I principally see reviews as a way to discover works to other users, so there's no point at all in adding reviews to anime and manga which already have a good amount of constructive ones. To continue on this aspect, even if I don't do a personal work of it, I still try to rate the works that I watch or read in a fairly objective way, which often conclude in giving low ratings compared to the standard of other users of this site, although anyone's opinion can never be empty of bias when it comes to entertainment, so take it with a grain of salt. But unlike those arrogant pseudo-intellectuals that I came accross through the years, all my rates are legitimate and really represents what I think of the works, and are neither an attempt to seem "superior" to anyone's eyes nor a try to simply piss people off. I actually use a full-scale rating for my own use, and not with any bad intentions. But in the end, it doesn't really bother me if you don't like me or even hate me because of my ratings but you aren't obliged to expose it on my profile by harshly criticizing me that I'm wrong to give a low score to something you like, or even because I gave an excellent rating to something you dislike. I hope that this isn't your case, since we need as most open-minded people as possible on this site, something that we clearly lack apparently. It may seem excessive to explain all of this but apparently, anime is some serious business for some people. My tastes in terms of anime and manga. As I said earlier, anyone can't be empty of bias when it comes to score entertainement, and genre preferences are generally the major influences of it, so it might be interesting for you to know what I like the most and what I like least. To begin with, from as far as I can remember, I always had a strong attraction towards science fiction. All these stories occurring in a nearby or distant future always fascinated me. It may seems weird but, during my childhood, I always thought science fiction was a wonderful way to get away from my own mortality. I could read stories from the future, from when I would be long gone, following characters that aren't even born yet. As I got older, my interest towards this genre increased tenfold, and nowadays, this is still what I tend to appreciate the most. When we remain in the literary field, I would say I am more hard sci-fi oriented, but in general there's no categories or subgenres that I have yet to precisely dislike. Secondly, I quite enjoy watching sports anime, even if I must admit that I never really was into sports when I was in elementary school. I thought it was boring since there was nothing creative in it, you could only follow the same rules indefinitely. I remember that, instead, during our playtime at school, me and some friends, we would imagine all kinds of worlds and play the roles of all kind of characters, running and jumping around the school yard. I wouldn't call it doing theater, since it was pretty improvised and we didn't want any spectators but this is the closest word I can think of to define it. We were simply having fun with our imagination, and I had too much of it anyway, it would have been a waste not putting it to work. But, of course, as I became an adolescent, things changed. Although I was still as creative as before, I surprisingly started to get interested in sports – in baseball for exemple and also in boxing later on – but it was more to have fun than anything else, and also to keep me in shape. So when I become aware of the existance of sports anime – thanks to MAL database – it didn't take long enough for me to begin watching some of them. But I must say that when I'm watching, or sometimes reading, these stories, a drama oriented plot is required, or at least very recommended, along with a cast of characters that is more than useless sidekicks to the protagonist. I consider comedy in these stories to still be welcome if these two previous criteria are fulfilled, as in Major or Hajime no Ippo for exemple. I've also pretty much only watched baseball and boxing anime right now since other sports don't really interest me very much. However, I still watch and read works of almost any types, excepted things connected to eroticism even if it has already happened numerous time that I watched anime or read manga including fanservice. I wouldn't say that I automatically dislike all anime and manga containing this kind of content but I clearly don't support authors who seek to fill their poor scriptwriting talents by using such scenes as their primary sales factor. But any anime or manga that actually have a plot that isn't focused on fanservice in any way but still use it here and there is still fine with me, even if I would still prefer them to be free of that if there's no real purpose for the scenario. I greatly doubt that this is the best manner to say it but if I want to see those kind of things, there are many more convenient ways, if you know what I mean. If I continue on which genre displease me, it may be a little too specific, but I could say that I'm not attracted at all toward medieval fantasy stories. I used to read a few novels from this subgenre when I was younger but I never really got into it. I thought that they were all really uninteresting. I don't even remember what were the titles or authors of those books. This is the exact reason for why I still didn't watch anime like Claymore or Berserk yet. It's just not my cup of tea. It would be therefore appropriate to refrain yourself from engaging conversation with me about stories like Game of Thrones or The Lord of the Rings, as I also always found them rather tiresome. There are also a more few things on the list of what don't attract me, but they are for most all genres or subgenres that don't attract a very big fanbase from the very start, such as mahou shoujo for exemple. It's as far as it gets for the anime and manga genres and since it would take an eternity to define and correclty describe all the factors behind my tastes, I think it would be preferable that we conclude this as what it is right now. I hope that you have by now a better comprehension of them, or at least, a less confused one. And ultimately, my tastes can still change over time, maybe it will take another directions through the years, so don't take what I just said as if was all set in stone. Maybe someday my bookshelf will have Tolkien's books right next to my Asimov's novels, we never know. Others useless information about me you don't really need to know. There are countless things I could tell you about me, from my greatest passions to my deepest thoughts, but it would be more proper, for at least with this first paragraph, to stay on the main topic of this website. First of all, I believe this is something quite recurrent, I just don't like to represent myself as an anime fan in real life. I certainly don't act toward it as if it was the worst taboo to have ever existed yet I obviously don't openly declare it to the whole world, shouting it from the rooftoops. I just prefer to keep my energy for more useful things, by not having to defend a fandom with such a bad reputation. Only some of my friends who are also anime fan will be aware as I continue to anonymously watch anime. Also, it's not related to anime in any way whatsoever, but I think it's important enough to mention. I won't talk about my political views as well as if I have religious beliefs of any kind or not on this website. Unfortunately, wherever you go there is always a countless amount of people fulfilled by prejudice for those who have different opinions and beliefs, their hatred often controlling them, so I would rather don't even say a word about my kind of views on those topics. Maybe that some of you may find this exaggerated but this is also one of my main rules that I even apply in real life. Some would say as well that I shouldn't worry about what other people think, and they are probably right. But my lazy mind is saying that if I can avoid myself some hazardous situations, why should I do otherwise? Perhaps that you have noticed it while reading the two first paragraph, but I'm not someone who likes to argue with others very much. Even more if it's over the internet with people I don't know personally. It may still happens once in a blue moon, with a sudden burst of motivation to do useless things, but it never last long. And if you actually try to have a debate with me on whatever subject, you will probably just bore me, so don't. I could finally give you some information about my personnality, but I unfortunately don't have a lot to say. I tend to see myself as your typical average and boring human being, even if I vainly wished all through my youth that it wasn't the case. But if I could summarize myself, I would say that I am a humble and open-minded individual, or at least, that I'm doing everything I can to be a good person and to improve myself as the mere human I am, despite the immensity of the insignifiance of my existance in the universe. I may still remain flawed and biased on a lot of different aspects and opinions, but this is precisely why I act this way. I prefer to die as someone who tried to be better for himself and the people around him rather than being a complete asshole who didn't deploy any efforts to make himself less worst. Which make it even more deplorable to see that some people are going in the complete opposite direction, trying to be as bad as they can to screw up their mentality, trying to be as much emotionless as possible toward others. I prefer to keep and cherish my moral integrity than being some fucked up psycopath wannabe who tries to minimize the gravity of others suffering while making fun of it. Life is too short to be wasted in such a stupid way. I fully intend to enjoy the few decades I will spent on this planet whitout being a bitter, unsentimental and unfeeling person, with negativity lurking all around his mind. At this point, if you want more information about me, it would be better if we know each other more personally. So as a conclusion for this last blog entry of my profile, taking into consideration that you have read every of them, I hope that you're satisfied with your reading, and never forget that the door is always open if you simply want to discuss, it'll be a pleasure, whatever the subject may be.

Featured Anime 6 Angels Released: November 20, 2001 to July 06, 2002 Stats as of July 30, 2014 Weighted Score: 4.84 Ranking: #7111 Bottom 100 Ranking: #44 Well, hey there everyone! I'm back again, and it's time to watch another shitty low-rated pile of garbage anime! Yay! Now, since there's 6 episodes to this one, I figured I would try out a new format for multi-episode series such as this. Previously, I would separate the posts as nescessarry and write up what I thought about the group of episodes I've watched... however, I don't think that's an ideal way to do it. Ideally, I feel like it would be most interesting to see my thoughts after each episode that I've watched. So, to keep things interesting, I'll be writing something after each episode that I view, starting below with the first one. Episode 1: Well, this has started off pretty decently, actually! The background art looks like a total CGI mess, and the story hasn't really went anywhere yet, but I already think the characters are somewhat charming and at least semi-enjoyable, and the action seems like it's done decently enough, though it could be better. The character animation is also nicely done, even though I'm not a huge fan of the character designs, themselves (still, those aren't bad, either). None of the show's parts are especially good, but most of them aren't especially bad, either. So far, It's been very middling, and certainly one of the better things I've watched out of this bottom 100 list, despite the pretty piss-poor fansub work by Caudex... (it was the only version I could find) Let's see where it goes from here. Episode 2: Well damn, the fansub script gets even worse this episode. Can you believe they changed a character saying "It's showtime" to "Come have a good show"? Like, seriously. I doubt these translators spoke any English whatsoever. In any case, with my moderate understanding of Japanese I was able to power through their bad subs. Anyway, onto the show itself. This episode seemed a little better than the first one. I feel like the animation was slightly better (mostly because it didn't focus as heavily on CGI), and the voice acting is still solid although a bit wooden in places. The story still seems a bit slapdash, with things just happening left & right bombarding the viewer... and I'm not entirely about the continuity concerning what happened between the first episode and this one. However, this still hasn't delved into the levels of "shitshow" yet. It's still just a middling & mediocre series, and is still better than 90% of the stuff I've watched on this bottom 100 list thus far. Time will tell if it can stay at that level. Well, that's all for now. I'll be sure to update this post as I watch the other episodes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 100 Worst Anime Progress List Key: Strikethrough = Completed [0.00] = MAL's rating (as of July 30th, 2014) {0/10} = My Rating
Note: I copied this list from the Top Anime List on July 30th, and will go through this version of the list for the duration of this feature, even if the list on the site ends up changing over time.

Hello there. My name's Ducat Revel. I'm an English graduate, majored in Creative Writing. Don't talk to me about literature though, because I'm not too well read. I love Homestuck, Pokemon, Wind Waker, Minecraft, Anime & Manga, Film, and Music. I'm painful aggressive when it comes to criticism. Primarily, I judge anime and manga with the use of Formalism and New Criticism, but I don't limit myself to just those. Also, don't ask me for anything I've wrote. Currently, I'm focusing on Fiction, specifically short stories. It's a slow process so don't expect anything. I'm also an admin in The Anime Uber-Elitist Club, so you can trust that you'll find me there. Lastly, I do not take random friend requests. I really don't. It's not my thing. Tom Cruise takes place in high rate chases after including phalanxes of bikes as well as autos making barrette turns and also galumphing down rock actions in Istanbul, or is it Paris, or Greater london? The filmmakers constantly inform you the nation plus the city-- like they actually should claim Vienna, Austria, to make sure that you really did not consider the Vienna State Concert hall as well as believe you remained in Vienna, Virginia-- however as in the James Bond and also Jason Bourne films, the place is not of much relevance, other than inasmuch as it could provide spots for Tom Cruise as well as his opponents to combat in, race through and also periodically degree. Just like the majority of exactly what he does, Cruise constantly really feels like he's providing it every little thing he's obtained, and also he remains to make Ethan Hunt's journeys appealing after 2 full years in the duty. I was happy by this end to end up, and also I prepare on seeing it once more in IMAX when feasible. Can Ilsa be relied on to function both sides versus the center while Hunt as well as his team function their means up the Eurobaddie food web to Lane as well as clear their names back in the house? Cruise's franchise business is as well important to Paramount to ever before place that inquiry unsure. However like all you can watch Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation online free on FilmFirst, it's a lot regarding the end result as it is the breathlessly awesome trip Cruise takes us on obtain there. Therefore Ethan, except the very first time, should go in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation online, expanding an unfeasibly hairy beard as well as contacting the surreptitious aid of his reliable employees to locate his only web link to the Syndicate, unblinking nutjob Solomon Lane. Rogue Nation watch online flexes completely back to the TELEVISION collection for the bad guy. The Syndicate, a bad mirror of the IMF, was teased at the end of Ghost Protocol. Below, it takes spotlight under the management of a corrupt ex-spouse British representative. On the other hand, Stateside, CIA supervisor Hunley is successful in obtaining the IMF's charter withdrawed as well as having actually the representatives taken in right into his company. Ethan Hunt, globetrotting in Europe chasing after the Syndicate, declines to can be found in from the cold. He is quickly participated expatriation by Benji Dunn as well as, later on, by William Brandt and also Luther Stickell. Hunt's examination leads him to the gorgeous, fatal Ilsa, which at the same time aids as well as unmasks him, triggering him to wonder about whether she's a British broker, a dual representative, or a three-way representative. A team as unsafe as its name is boring, the Syndicate is manned specifically by missing out on or assumed dead previous federal government scouts like the Bone Doctor, which's there to harm you, not aid you. Certainly, the Grand Guignol series where Ethan and also Ilsa initially go across courses as 2 shapes functioning the wings as well as rigging of the Vienna State Opera while a murder effort plays bent on 'Nessun Dorma', is MI5's emphasize.

  • -C: Lugal-Kitun is capable of creating powerful healing potions and protective talismans that call upon the favor of spirits and elementals. Territory Creation: The skill to build a special terrain that is advantageous to oneself as a magus.
  • B: Creation of a 'Workshop' becomes possible. Lugal-Kitun was never trained in the rituals to set up a proper auspicious territory in the ways of ancient Sumer. Her self-taught knowledge, incomplete as it is, is enough to establish a territory equivalent to a modern magus' workshop.

Despite leading Uruk to peace and prosperity, the citizenry turned their back on Lugal-Kitun for failing to live up to their impossible expectations of a 'new Gilgamesh'. High-Speed Divine Words: The power to activate Thaumaturgy without the use of Magic Circuits. The language of the Age of Gods, back when words played a heavy role in spellcasting. Akar-Kiengri- Ra Golden Raiment of Sumer Rank: B Type: Anti-Unit Range: 0 Maximum Target: 1
Akar-Kiengri-Ra is the common name given to the armor of the King of Uruk. The armor was not passed from one king to the next, however; each king had their own set of armor, which took the name Akar-Kiengri-Ra. The armor, just like the scepter of office, was the official symbol of the King of Urk when on the battlefield. While each king's version was different, they all shared a common inspiration: the sublime golden armor of the greatest of kings; the incomparable Gilgamesh. Lugal-Kitun's armor abandoned most of its defensive purposes to make it as light as possible and thus maximize her speed and agility in combat. It consist of an awkward looking breastplate that protects her shoulders and upper arms, as well as the underside of her breasts to the end of her sternum. She also wears gauntlets seamlessly connected to vambraces.
