Head
Hair
Setsuna’s hair is a case of the total being better than the sum of her parts. As both Eas and Setsuna her hair is mid-long and reaches her shoulders, with some bangs on front of her shoulders for cute points. Eas also wears a black hairband. As Cure Passion her hair gets MUCH longer, about waist long, and she gains some cute hair accessories. Finally and most obvious, her hair has different colors in each form: Grey as Eas to represent her dreadful nature, dark purple as Setsuna to bridge between her other two forms, and pink as Cure Passion to emphasize her change of sides further. I enjoy dark purple and like the other two colors as well, but the fact she has all three for variety makes Setsuna really appealing. Finally, all three colors go well with her eye color!
Grade: A
Eyes
Despite her hair color always changing, Setsuna’s eyes are always red no matter her form. And Toei wonders why people guessed who Passion was so easily, morons. Anyway I don’t mind this one big since red eyes are easily my favorite and they go really well with all her hair colors and usual costumes. The only “flaws” are a lack of cute glasses and a lack of tsurime, and even then the latter is only true of Setsuna and Passion, because Eas has it. Or maybe her eyes are half-closed. Also, while this is more of a footnote than anything else, the Fresh artstyle has sometimes pupils slightly over the top of the eye and it vaguely sorta looks like ahegao; is minor enough it doesn’t even matter, but once you notice it it’s hard to forget.

Body
Build
For some strange reason, while the other 3 main Fresh Cures have official heights Setsuna doesn’t. However, when looking at their group transformation scene you can tell she’s between the 159 cm tall Love and the 164 cm tall Miki, so Setsuna should be about 161-162 cm tall. That is tall for her age, but not a lot. In fact that might actually fit with how the girls from her series look slightly older than those in other Cure series, but it’s not that much of a difference. Well, until you watch the All Stars movies, see the Fresh girls standing next to the lolish Tsubomi and Erika from Heartcatch and need to remind yourself they’re the same age. Anyway, in-series the girls look fine, and Setsuna has a wonderful middle school body that is simply irresistible. She’s flat like the other Cures, but her Eas and Passion costumes emphasize her chest for some reason. Nobody cares because damn near every costume of her emphasizes her legs a million times more! It gets to the point you wonder if some of the head honchos at Toei had a thing for Setsuna’s legs, because holy crap. She also has pale skin as Eas, just like the rest of the citizens of Labyrinth; I like pale skin so more power to her. Finally, fanart sadly exaggerates her body sometimes, but that happens to all cures from Yes, Fresh and Suite anyway, so it’s more of fanartists not being able to appreciate her fine body.
Grade: A-
Butt
Alas, nobody’s perfect and even Setsuna falters at this. That said, with those shorts she wears at Eas and her shorts and jeans as Setsuna it’s hard to think she hasn’t had a buttshot somewhere and I just forgot. At least they make the focus on her lower body even more evident, that’s for sure.

Clothes
Like with her hair, Setsuna triumphs here simply because her clothes follow two themes that I enjoy: black and red clothing and leg focus. That leads to them being already good normally and great when looking at the general picture. First off, as Eas she wears what is clearly a dominatrix-inspired outfit, as it’s black with red bits and she wears thighhigh boots, long gloves and tight shorts. She’s one of the few Cure girls that are described as looking sexy as opposed to cute or funny. Passion has a more standard Cure outfit, a red with black bits one. She keeps the gloves minus the actual hand part, changes her black longcoat for a long red frilly dress, and most importantly she changes the shorts and the boots for PANTYHOSE! She’s the only Cure so far wearing such a really sexy piece of clothing and it works perfectly with the rest of her costume. On an unrelated note, for some reason ALL Cures wear heels, that’s not very useful on a fight. And yet the only time a Cure suffers from heels is not in a fight. Her end-series upgrade gives her angel wings, like all the other Cures. Except Berry, she got Xabungle wings for some reason.
Finally, as Setsuna she wears a variety of clothes. Before changing sides she’s often seen in a sundress with a small jacket and a sun hat, looking feminine and innocuous as she’s meant to. Once she changes sides Setsuna does the silly Power Ranger thing of dressing as your color, though only partially, this isn’t Smile. Damn, Smile was really denigrating at times. Anyway, Setsuna almost always wears a red T-shirt, sometimes switching it for a red blouse. The rest of her clothing can change: Sometimes she wears purple jeans, sometimes she wears Mikoto-like shorts and a purple jacket, and in her best outfit she keeps the jacket but instead dons a miniskirt and PANTYHOSE AGAIN! This girl sure likes keepings her legs covered! I like her doing it, too! Oh, right, there’s another “usual” outfit of hers: her dance practice wear. Naturally it’s red, and for some reason she has shorts and THIGHHIGHS in it. As said before, Setsuna is a leg focus girl, and she REALLY lives to it!

Personality
Setsuna started as Eas, a citizen of Labyrinth who was loyal to Möbius and would do anything for him and his people. That made her spearhead their assault to Earth to gather Misfortune for him. On there she met Love or Cure Peach, the main girl. While Cure Peach would stop her plans as Eas many times, Love was very friendly to the quiet and unfriendly Setsuna, trying her hardest to warm her up and become her friend. Note neither knew who each other was. Why yes, this was reused on Suite for Beat, and then poorly reused with an even poorer twist for DokiDoki. Anyway, at first Setsuna slowly warms up to Love, until they have a big fight and Setsuna breaks the clover pendant Love gave her. At that time Eas was using even stronger forms of the monsters of the week that drained her energy, as proof of her loyalty even when she was wavering.
Eventually she gave up her life and died, but then got better thanks to her Pickrun and Chiffon, and she was reborn as Cure Passion. Her reborn self was at first ashamed of her evil past and refused to be with the other Cures, but eventually stayed at Love’s. Now she was a sweet and a bit shy girl, much nicer and gentler than before. However, things aren’t always easy and she suffered from a lot of guilt and nightmares due to her time as Eas, though thanks to Love and the rest she eventually got over them. In fact, at the end she challenged Möbius himself to a duel! Basically Setsuna is an exemplary, well, example of a character that changes from evil to good but actually has a hard time doing so, it’s not like hitting a switch like other series do. Finally, like all Cures she has a few attacks. Since she joins halfway in she lacks a “weak” special and only has the “strong” one, Pretty Cure Happiness Hurricane; she spins and then fires a beam thanks to her harp. Eat your heart out, Edward. She also has the combination attack Lucky Clover Grand Finale with the other 3 heroines, and she can warp anywhere with her Pickrun, Akarun. Why yes, the show actually uses this well. Unlike Smile. Boo Smile.

Libido
Ooh, this one’s hard. Eas is actually a rare case of a memetic dom, which I really, really like; in fact that was part of why I watched her show. It’s not completely unfounded in reality mind you, as Eas has a strong and assertive personality and her design is very clearly dominatrix-like. In addition, quotes like “I can’t stand smiling faces… They make me sick!” only serve to reinforce this. In fact, in a rare case of Japan LIKING the dommy girl, Eas seems to be really popular among the older viewers and is one of the few Cure villains to get merchandise. It is said “younger friends” like Cure Passion while “older friends” kneel before Eas. Anyway, the point is Eas is as much of a dom as you can get in a show for little girls. Sadly all things must come to an end, and when Eas is reborn as Cure Passion she loses the dommy nature. However, it is replaced by a rather obvious yuri relationship with Love, which is one of my favorite yuri couples no less. Sadly Love is the “top” in it, though it’s not a huge thing or anything. Maybe deep in Setsuna is still a dom and is waiting for a good moment to show this to Love!

Setsuna is 14. Pretty much all Cures are in my ideal range and she’s not an exception. Oddly, the All Stars movies happen all after their respective series all over except the currently running one and ALL the movies are meant to be in the same continuity, but the girls don’t age even though in theory 4 years have passed. Oh well, better not to think about it. At least Fresh is not as convoluted time-wise as Yes. Yes is nuts. And coco. Coco is there too. Also milk. But mainly nuts.

Voice
Yuka Komatsu has a nice voice and changes well between the various “modes” Setsuna has. She sounds a bit older than I’d like for a 14-year old, but it’s not too bad. Also, as said above Eas has some nice dommish lines that help her.

8. Mikono Suzushiro- From Aquarion Evol
Mikono has a nice mix of adorableness, and sexiness mixed into one, with her nice figure, cute face, eyes, and hair which help her reach the eighth position on this list.
7. Lucy Heartfilia- From Fairy Tail
Revy, the badass, sexy mercenary, and the main manpower for Black Lagoon. Her combination of killing skills, and looks(with the shorts which definitely helps) place her at number 6 on my list.
5. Saber- From Fate Zero/Fate Stay Night

The sharp angles of her face, those mysterious blue, and red eyes. Her glistening dead skin(wait what the fuck). Maybe it has something to do with her being a zombie, and still being gorgeous that puts her so high up on this list, but who cares.
