This was a good year overall for computer hardware. We have great new processors and graphics card from our familiar vendors Nvidia, AMD, Intel, ARM... and the list goes on. With the introduction of Ivy Bridge this earlier this year, it became clear that the next generations of CPUs are going to be smaller and smaller, with the focus on power consumption and portability than raw performance. The desktop market is being eaten alive by tablets and portable devices, the companies all know that it will be a dead end eventually. The tablets won't enjoy safe market gains either, thin, light, ultrabooks and ultrabooks convertibles are confronting them directly, what's the point of a tablet when it can be combined with a laptop, or "ultrabook" as intel calls them.
