Just Finished:
- Resident Evil 6 - Now back in my first impressions of this I asked the question: "Is more better" and sure it can be but not when most the game isn't really all that fun to play! Even though it follows the same gameplay style of 4th and 5th games the majority of the missions don't seem to differ all that much between the different charactors you control and most of the time you just go from point A to point B and then once in a while you may have to find keys scattered around to unlock a door or solve a simple puzzle, at least the previous two had a lot more variety in gameplay, and more inventory space. I'm not sure if this is just a thing the game does for either Normal or Amateur difficulties but it always tells you where the next exit is and even where the important items are and new weapons, at least give us a small challenge on finding them. Even after trudging through the mundaneness of the missions the final chapter end bosses and even a couple of the mini-bosses are the game's highlights with some really badass moments. The best one is defiantely Leon's where the boss battle actually starts at the end of chapter 4 and the entire 5th chapter is just one giant one of course with it ending with firing a surprize rocket launcher up it's ass. The bonus missions with Ada after finishing the main three stories are the weakest and she doesn't even get her own boss battle (unless you count the thing on the aircraft carrier) and plus her crossbow is really hard to use. I did try out "Agent Hunt" for a little bit where you get to "invade" other players games online as one of the zombies or mutants but a lot of times the things you control can be really hard to harm the good guys with or they just give some fairly blah enemy (like those air force Javos but with a stupid knife instead of a gun), also sometimes you can join in on someone where they are just about to finish that part of the level and you get auto kicked back to the main menu. Then there's also Mercenaries from the last two games but I can never earn anything over E-rank. It took me about 6-7 hours to go through each of the three main stories and maybe less than 5 for Ada's but I think once you're done, you are done and didn't even want to bother trying them all over again as the co-op partner (and at least the computer AI for your partners is doable for most fo the time). If you have to play this game definately wait until it goes cheaper or maybe just wait for some "gold/ultra" edition that will have all of the bonus DLC included which Capcom plans on releasing more in the later months. I knew buying this game on launch day was going to be a hard gamble and I paid the price, at least I might get to sell it for $36 on Half.com. Now if only they would re-release the Resident Evil re-make from the Gamecube for current consoles.
- Dishonored - AKA: Corvo's Bizzare Adventure. Now I know this game will be a high contender for 2012's game of the year from most places but why did the "high chaos" ending had to be so lame, it's like it penelizes you for being a sneaky badass. All it came down to in the end is you climb up to high lighthouse tower with only three guards and save the child empress with a simple arrow shot to her "captor" (no spoilers) but then the game doesn't really give you any closure, like the bad ending from Bioshock. I know having less deaths decreases the chaos factor but really in some situations you just have to say f* it and just wipe out everyone in your way or just be an asshole. At least in this game there are no forced boss battles (I'm staring at you, Deus Ex prequel) where all of your gamestyle choices are brought to nil but there is one optional one that can get damn tough and overwhelming if your are not carefull. Overall I had a really fun time with this and I personally more molded my charactor with more stealth skills and diversions (I love the rat swarms) and didn't bother too much with the offensive stuff. Not sure if I want to replay it just for the "good ending" but no matter how you play this it's really worth your gametime.
Still Playing:
- Not all that much else during Novemeber except for Borderlands 2 where I'm somewhat getting close to the end but I'm sure I got at least 10-15 more hours to go, especially with side quests for more glorious loot. I will be getting the Captain Scarlett DLC addon eventually but I'm putting the thumbs down on Torque's Badass Crater of Badassitude, reminds me too much of the "Underdome". Hopefully I'll get back into more Assassin's Creed III this month, I just got Connor's signature armor, as well as more Darsiders II. Also I just bought myself "Sleeping Dogs" during a Black Friday-ish sale for only $30 (actually had my local Fry's store price match it from a online Gamestop sale).
Games to buy this month:
- Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (Out now) - At least it's finally on US PSN (was on 360 Arcade for a little while) and seriously ArcSys, screw BlazBlue, I want a new HD Guilty Gear damnit! (or hell even GG VS. BB) But for now this PS2 upscale port is the closest thing we can get, also for $15.
On the wishlist:
- Skyrim: Dragonborn (Out now) - The 2nd DLC pack (Hearthfire doesn't count) and we finally come back to Morrowind (which I still love to see a HD re-release of), or at least part of it. I personally wasn't too much interested in the vampire-based Dawnguard but this one looks pretty awesome and plus it has true dragon riding! Will buy after getting some holiday moneyz.
- Far Cry 3 (Out now) - The reviews and visuals of this game are a solid stunner but will have to wait until after finishing up other games I have on my que.
