Recently finished up my third year on MAL. I don't know if I'll ever get to 1,000 completed entries but who even thought that was a possibility on November 11, 2009?
Not much movement at all in the rankings, placement-wise. A lot of things went down this week, and a lot of shows got a whole lot more clustered together, mostly in a bad way.
1. Seizons [last week: 1]: When Mafuyu calls you useless, you know you're a terrible person. Mafuyu is like the most useless person in the universe (and proud of it). Ken has officially tripped the Minatsu and Mafuyu flags. Can we please get a true harem christmas episode?
Score: 8.9
2. Medaka Box [2]: Munakata Kei was not a particularly interesting foe, at least compared to Takachiho and what comes next. The manga continues to be as intentionally ridiculous as possible.
Score: 8.3
3. Little Busters [3]: The Komari arc has mercifully come to a close, and hopefully she doesn't have a starring role in any future episodes. Haruka and Kanata begin their story next week, and the show's "8" is definitely on the line. Extra Kud would also be helpful.
Score: 8.0, trending down
4. Hidamaris 4 [4]: Hiro is not fat. You stop that Miyako. Only 31 wideface shots this week, the lowest of the season. There were copious amounts of Hiro, but not in that fashion, because she is not fat. It was depressed Hiro, which was sad. Feel better Hiro, you can do it.
Score: 7.9, trending down
5. Robotics;Notes [6]: We've left Aki behind for a little bit as Kai discovers some virtual world secrets, and a hidden special report relating to the Sun exploding. Which, of course, the discoverers kept to themselves because... I'm not really sure what benefit would be gained from that. Maybe we'll find out next week, or perhaps Aki will do something asinine. I'm hoping for both. Probably looking forward to this show more than any others outside the top two.
Score: 7.8, trending up
6. Sword Art Online [5]: I don't particularly care about Lyfa to be honest with you. I did, however, enjoy the chibi SAO special, because chibis are amazing. Everyone should have their own triviabot. Kirito turned into a goat-monster. This show has the biggest obsession with goat monsters since DOOM (And has made me start playing the original DOOM and DOOM II again, I love those games)
Score: 7.8
7. Toriko [7]: We still aren't at the gourmet casino. That penguin is still hanging around not really adding anything. Stupid wall penguin.
Score: 7.4
8. Chuunibyou [8]: This episode focused on the Sugisaki-role character, whose name eludes me. Those bits (OF PURE MANLINESS) worked way better than the Dekomori/Nibutani ones. We even got surprising entertainment out of napping girl this week. That is something I don't think even the evil eye foresaw.
Score: 7.2, trending down
9. Magi [9]: An episode of Morgiana kicking tigers in the face is certainly a positive development. No word on exactly how long this series is going to last but I'm hoping Sinbad shows up at some point. Not adapting in a particularly memorable fashion to this point.
Score: 7.0, trending down
10. Rock Lee [10]: "Ino! Mind-body switch with this wig!" That was a Bobobo-tastic experience. Might Guy's adventures with Cuticle-san the wig are something not even brain bleach is able to remove. Rock Lee's narration skit wasn't quite as funny, mostly because it failed to include chibi Hinatas.
Score: 6.8
11. Code:Breaker [11]: That Heike dude is seriously something else. Currently the leader in the clubhouse for "most awesome new character" while most of the competition is Little Busters characters. I don't know how one gets to the point where they'll set up a table in the hallway and start reading erotic literature aloud, but he has in fact gotten there. There's still something missing from this show, though I have not quite figured out what it is.
Score: 6.7
12. Shinsekai Yori [12]: That Squealer (does his name change every week?) is one creepy looking rat-thing. Saki and Satoru have finally escaped the rat-people and met up with their separated friends and return to the village. A severe punishment awaits for talking to that Minoshiro library thing.
Score: 6.5
13. Psycho-pass [13]: The search for the killer of Spooky Boogie continues. The quest to capture my interest is reaching the danger zone.
Score: 6.3, trending down
14. Btoom! [14]: Lizards! Sakamoto and Taira-san have to defend against a bunch of lizard beasts while toting around an unconscious girl. She eventually wakes up, but doesn't give her name. I would have bombed her while she slept.
Score: 5.8
15. Hayate III [15]: This studio should be contracted immediately. When JC Staff not only did a better job than you, but a way, WAY better job than you, it begins to be an unqualified disaster.
Score: 4.8
