Hmm...
I'm not sure what to think of this anime anymore. When the main character is not likeable... it makes it hard to be motivated to watch the show. I suppose other characters can make up for it like the Snow Princess from Accel World or Chiyuri might make up for Haruyuki but in this current series it seems really hard.
Although the action was one of the great parts of the show, and even though it's supposed to be a identity-crisis coming-of-age sorta plot my enjoyment of this show was very low this episode. Maybe it's just from seeing Yura whine so much...or be so selfish. Though I actually was wondering how come Rin doesn't see eye to eye with her. Perhaps her personality is not as she was portrayed to be in the last couple of episodes of winning at all cost.
Sonora did explain before that Rin felt that their master died in the Vietnam war because maybe he was too weak but in the end I'm wondering then where Rin's sudden benevolence for the good of the team is coming from. Regardless of the unexplained change in her attitude, it still leaves Yura in the place I was anticipating, kicked out of everything. I actually was expecting her to try to usurp Rin of her authority as Captain. Regardless she did the job of tearing Yura down. So I guess we'll have to see where the anime is headed now.
Sigh. The only highlight of this episode was seeing Rento but it sure was a sad meeting. In the whole series she's always been the most optimistic and cheerful. Her attitude is admirable and seeing her so downcast and worried didn't help with the overall mode of this episode. I suppose maybe it could've been a better experience if they added in some really high stakes or maybe some humor but the whole episode just weighed down from Yura's warped attitude of becoming stronger.

I wonder if I can only enjoy the anime if I really like the characters in it. I suppose so. A great character can carry a crappy plot and still hold an audience's attention. I don't think the same could be said the other way around.
