こんにちわみんなさん So, there are some people who are watching this anime who haven't played the games or perhaps don't know much about the video game industry in general. I'll start listing off the references that I notice in each episode in my blog. mk2 = second Hyperdimension Neptunia game Victory = third Hyperdimension Neptunia game 1. When Neptune is playing her video games in her room, she says "Sonic Jump!" I'm pretty sure this is a reference to Sonic the Hedgehog (Planeptune and Neptune herself represent the video game company Sega). Also, when Histoire gets angry at Neptune and Nepgear, this is a reference to the opening scene in Victory when Histoire started lecturing Neptune and Nepgear. 2. The girl handing out fliers is Rei Ryghts, a shy girl from Victory. She's the leader of the Seven Sages, a group dedicated to forming a cvilian-led government without the goddesses to lead them and the main villain of the game. At this point, I don't know if she'll play a larger role in the anime or not. 3. When Neptune proclaims she is going to get lessons from Noire, this is a reference to Victory when Neptune and Neptune's friend in Victory, Pururut, travel to Lastation to learn from Noire (Pururut's appearance in the anime is unknown at this point). When they arrive, Neptune falls asleep to Noire's annoyance. Yet another reference to Victory (as soon as Neptune and Pururut arrived in Lastation they wanted to nap). In the games, Neptune always claims that Noire has no friends. 4. One of the areas that they go to on the quest is called the Nasuune Highlands. Nasuune might be a reference to Natsume, the company that publishes the Harvest Moon series, which puts you in the role of a farmer... Those were farmers that they were helping in the episode right? 5. The transformations that the CPUs do in the series are like the ones they did in the first game. 6. The fight with the Dogoos is full of references. The Dogoos are references to Slimes, common monsters of the Dragon Quest game series. Neptune claims she can beat up the Dogoos with a Cypress Stick, a low-level weapon from the Dragon Quest series. The song that plays during the fight is Ryuusei no Bifrost, the opening song of the first game. The... Dogoo "rape" scene is from mk2, when Nepgear, Compa, and IF get assaulted by a ton of Dogoos. Just like the game, IF ends up killing them all. 7. I'm not sure about all the enemies that Noire faces in the cave but they could be references to toher games I haven't played. The Anticrystal is new to the anime, but there was a status condition in the games called Virus, and when the goddesses were afflicted with it, they could no longer transform and if they were transformed, they reverted back to human form. 8. Purple Heart's line after transforming: "Megami no chikara, misete ageru wa" is her standard opening line in the games. Cross Combo is one of Neptune's standard moves that she has in every game. 9. Magiquone and Warechu (Arfoire and Pirachu in the English translations) are both enemies from the series. Magiquone has been the villain in every game so far while Warechu started in mk2 and he was in Victory as well. They've both played differing roles in the series. Magiquone was the main enemy in the first game, and the second game... kind of. And in the third she was a supporting villain. Warechu was one of the main villains in mk2 and he played a supporting role in Victory. Warechu is an obvious reference to Pikachu from Pokemon but Magiquone I'm not sure about. Her English translated name is easier for me to understand; Arfoire is a reference to the R4 chip, which is an illegal downloading chip for the Nintendo DS. So that's that for the first episode. I'll do the second episode and third episode later in the week and then whenever a new episode airs, I'll list off the references from that episode. また後で
