Example #243: The Flower That Glistens in the Light of the Moon

This is the Two-hundred-and-forty-third week of using the "Perfect Anime Girl Sheet". Notice: This Blog may contain Unmarked Spoilers. Welcome back everyone! If you haven't been reading recently I suggest that you do so! : Exactly, otherwise you'll have no clue who Topaz's little middle school harem are! : E-Erika! We're not a h-harem! : *shrugs* I know I know. To those that haven't been reading, you can see that I've been collecting the Heartcatch Precure girls this month. Throughout the month we've faced many of my closest friends and had to fight their darker sides. : I even had to scuffle with Topaz-san himself as a giant spectacle creature! Not one of my proudest moments, I can tell you. Anyway, we're not looking for Yuri, the final member of the group. : And no doubt Topaz's favorite, I bet. Shhh, don't spoil the surprise. Er, I mean... Do you have any ideas where Yuri might be? : I had heard that there was a doujin event at the stadium this week when I was signing up for last month's tournament. Perhaps we could find her there? Why would Yuri be at a doujin event like that? : I think you know, Topaz *snicker*. *Topaz giggles as well. The four soon arrive with Erika and Topaz still giggling to themselves* : It is not the time to make light of our missing ally's name. We should make haste in our search! Tsubomi has a good point. We should split up to search for her so we can cover more ground. : That sounds like a great idea. We'll all meet back here in an hour or so. : You can call us if you see another monster as well, Topaz. Hopefully another of your friends don't pop up! That would certainly cause trouble! *The four split up and head in separate directions. Meanwhile, in another part of the same event a fangirl is getting excited over some small figures.* Pizza: Hauuuuu.... Such cute Nendoroids!! But they're so expeeennnssssiiiveee! But Tony has such a cute armor and helmet and OMG SO CUTE! *The girl is so enamored by the figures she doesn't notice a hooded figure slink up behind her. When they start to talk, Pizza jumps a bit.* Image-chan: Ahem. Anyway, I couldn't help but notice you perusing these anime and comic goods. Perhaps I could help you finance them? Pizza: Listen, I don't know who you are, but you can't just BUY me! And that totally didn't sound as creepy in my head, but again you ARE a hooded mysterious person! Image-chan: That is true. I suppose that your soul isn't worth it just for some dumb goods. Pizza: THEY'RE NOT DUMB THEY ARE MY BABIES AND I WOULD LOVE THEM! But yeah they're totally not worth my soul. Image-chan: Perhaps another trade then? I can tell that you're a girl who likes romance... Pizza: Who told? Image-chan: To be fair I could guess that about most girls and be right most of the time. But what if you sold your soul to make sure that all of your one true pairs became CANON. Pizza: WAIT WHAT! Image-chan: Yes, from your otp of otp (though I think that one is already mostly canon) to 8059, ALL of your otps would become canon. Or at least not as subtle as they are now. Pizza: Err, I'm not sure if this is such a good idea or not. Changing original works like that would be terrible and I'm sure the author has some plan. Just up and changing their plans could have disastrous results! Image-chan: I'll even make it so that there's a TON of great art and fan fics. You'll be SWIMMING in stories of akihakohaku and your fatetp! Pizza: Uguuuu... That does sound tempting... Image-chan: All you'll have to do is defeat Topaz and put an end to his evil blog once and for all! Pizza: WAIT! I could NEVER betray Topaz for that! Image-chan: *clicks tongue* Why does Topaz seem to have such dependable friends! You know what then? I'll just take your energy like last week! *Image-chan uses her brush to hit Pizza with a rainbow blast of energy.* Pizza: Noooo....... *A heart shaped Moonstone is pulled out of Pizza's chest.* Image-chan: Ehehehe... This will surely be my best work! *Meanwhile, back with Topaz we find him reading questionable doujins.* *Hastefully scrambles to put the doujins back* Hey! It hasn't even been an hour, what are you doing here! : Haha! I knew you'd be distracted. I came back because it's sooo boorrring just searching. I hope some-MPPPH! *Topaz covers her mouth before she could finish her sentence.* Don't you go tempting fate on us! Everyone knows that when you wish for something to happen... *Loud screams are heard and many people run past Topaz as a large boat-like creature emerges from the crowds.* ....It does... *sigh* : I blame you for this. But since we've got a monster I'd better transform. Precure, open my heart! *Erika transforms into Cure Marine.* Pizza: OTP!!!! : A giant boat monster? This is nothing compared to last week where we had to defeat a mecha! Pizza: OTP! *A cross mark of anger appears near the boat's front. It then throws a punch from it's cartoonish hands, but Cure Marine was easily able to dodge.* : Is that all you've got? Take this: Marine Shoot! *Erika fires many water droplets at the creature, but they all bounce harmlessly off.* Image-chan: Ahaha! They have no chance at this rate! Even if they avoid every attack, they'll just tire themselves out! *A member of the crowd bumps the booth that Image-chan is standing on. She manages to steady herself, but the magical brush rolls into the crowd.* Image-chan: N-no! That was a gift from the demons! They'd be very angry if that's lost forever! *Image-chan starts to look over the floor, but she isn't able to locate the brush as it gets kicked around by the stampeding masses. Meanwhile, things aren't looking good for Cure Marine either, as she appears to be somewhat bruised by the boat creature's attacks.* : Oof, this monster is stronger than it looks. Truly this person's heart is full of devotion to this topic, whatever it is. Pizza: OTP! *The boat-like creature's eyes start to shine for a powerful attack, but before it is charged it becomes attacked by another Pretty Cure instead.* : Blossom Screw Punch! *The monster is pushed back by Cure Blossom's energized fist.* : Thanks, Tsubomi! But man, it took you long enough to finally get here... : Sorry *bows* I was all the way across the stadium. : No need to apologize, I was just joking. Pizza: OTP!!!!! *The boat creature stands back up quickly and immediately shoots out a red string out of it's finger. The string wraps itself around Cure Blossom and Cure Marine, squeezing the two of them back to back together tightly.* : & : Nyahh! oof! *Next, the monster sends out volts of electricity through the red string.* : & : KYAAAHHH!!! *Cure Blossom and Cure Marine take so much damage that they lose their Cure powers and return to being Erika and Tsubomi. They huddle together, scared.* : That "Red String of Destiny" attack is far too powerful! Pizza: OTP! : And look! It's charging up for another powerful attack! Pizza: O! T! P!!!!! *The monster shoots out a powerful beam at the duo, but they're saved at the last minute by the next member of their party.* : Sunflower Aegis! *A large sunflower shield is created to defend both her fallen allies and Cure Sunshine herself.* What, did you guys choreograph when you'll be arriving for maximum heroics? *Cure Sunshine reflects the powerful attack back at the boat-like creature, but it dodges as well.* : So THAT'S how you want to play then. Well then take this, OOORA! *Cure Sunshine charges at the monster and starts to battle it in close combat. Her attack seem to hit, but are ultimately useless. The monster then uses its comical feet to kick her away, and Cure Sunshine rolls as she's injured by the attack.* : *Struggling to pick herself up from the floor.* It seems that this enemy is quite a handful. But I've got to protect my allies... *Cure Sunshine attempts to leap and kick the boat-like creature, but it grabs her before she's able to hit it. The monster then throws her against the wall, cracking the material from the impact. Cure Sunshine reverts back to Itsuki, and falls unconscious.* : ITSUKI! *Topaz is horrified.* W-wait, you mean that even Sunshine was no match for this creature? If only the fourth member was here... *WHUMP* Ehhh? *An unconscious yet familiar looking girl is dumped against Topaz's body.* Wait, Pizza? What are you doing here? ???: Watch over her, I'll finish what my teammates have started! : *Gasps* YURI! : Took you long enough! : You may have defeated my allies, but I will! *Cure Moonlight kicks the boat-like creature upward.* : NOT! *Cure Moonlight uses "Moonlight Silver Impact" to knock it away.* : FALTER! Pretty Cure Silver Forte Wave! *Cure Moonlight shoots a flower-like projectile at the boat-like creature, making a silver rose appear behind it.* Pizza: wawawawa.... *The creature is finally defeated in a bright light, and Pizza's heart Moonstone is returned to her body. The destroyed booths and wall are repaired by the energy as well* ===Time passes=== *Pizza wakes up with her head on Yuri's lap.* Pizza: Huh! Where am I? And who are you all? Though I do recognize you Topaz, but why are all these middle school girls with you. : I'm Erika, and this is Itsuki, she's Yuri and this is Tsubomi! : You fell unconscious out there on the floor. Luckily Topaz and we managed to carry you to this backroom so that you could rest. Pizza: I see. Also I'm jealous that you get to lay on Yuri's nice legs too. : Topaz, perhaps this young woman would enjoy listening to my story. I'm sure that she would, but wouldn't be the best one to tell it. : *smiles* That's true, but I'm not the one with the blog today. Oh yeah! I've been waiting to do a blog on you all month, so it should seem obvious that... Head Hair: Yuri's hair is well within my favorite types. It's long, flowing, and mostly straight to begin with. It even goes all the way down to her waist as well! It's also a lovely shade of purple, both being dark for my tastes yet being colorful enough to not look out of place in the series. It just looks really nice, especially with the small amount of hair that's usually draped over her shoulder. The only objection I have is that her bangs are a bit odd. The right side is clipped back and shows her forehead while the left sticks out quite a bit and even curves slightly. I don't completely dislike it, but it's still my least favorite part. As Cure Moonlight there's only a few changes. Her hair becomes lighter, but still an obvious purple color (Cure Moonlight is a "purple" Cure). It also gains some volume and length as well, going all the way down to her knees or so. Her bangs, also change and become fuller. Because Cure Moonlight's bangs are so pointed they also remind me of Cyborg 009, even if I haven't properly seen that show. But in all seriousness, her bangs even gleam from sharpness during the transformation sequence! Finally, there's also a purple rose in her hair. Grade: A- Eyes: Yuri's eyes are very gentle looking and nice. They look narrow which certainly makes me appreciate them as well. The hexagonal shape, rather than the pure circle of the girls like Tsubomi or Erika, shows how mature she is in comparison to those two. Her eyes are even a blue or purple color, but either way they're a nice dark color and look great. Oh, and one more thing. If you haven't noticed, YURI WEARS GLASSES! Most of the time too, unlike Tsubomi who only started with them and wears them on rare occasions. Sure, they have thin frames and it's somewhat hard to see, but they still add to the features that make Yuri my favorite Cure in the franchise! There are a few occasions that she doesn't wear them though. Obviously this includes when she's Cure Moonlight, but that's expected to happen with magical girls and I can't change that tradition. The other time is when she's in a fashion show, such as the movie. I suppose that this is excusable, but even then they could have had her model wearing her glasses. The only real change in Yuri's eyes when transforming is that they turn a lighter shade of blue (effectively looking more blue than "navy blue"). There's also the fact that her larger bangs make it harder to see her eyes, but that's not as much of a problem as you'd expect. Grade: A Face: Once again, Yuri's face is somewhat simple but that enables her to make a lot of faces. She's not quite as animated as the other girls (as Yuri is a lot more reserved), instead leaning more towards realistic emotions of loss and such. I will say that her pale skin works well for her though, it contrasts nicely with her dark eyes and hair. I will say that Yuri does have a more noticeable nose than the other members of her cast, but it's possible that's just because the nose piece of her glasses needed something to rest on. Besides, it's just the bridge and not the nostril part so i don't mind as much. Grade: B- Body Build: As I said before, Yuri has pale skin and it looks really nice on her. There's also a scene where we were ABOUT to find out Yuri's measurements, but unfortunately we weren't able to do so. I will say though that she has a fairly apparent hourglass figure. The art style is subdued a bit so it's not as rounded as I would like, but it's still there. Otherwise she's a particularly slender girl, with thin arms and legs (though the latter still have a bit of a feminine form to them). Her shoulders, for whatever reason, are pretty pointed and wide though that may just be her outfits. You can also see her collar bone which proves how thin she is. Grade: B+ Breasts: I wouldn't say that Yuri is busty. However, taking Heartcatch's art style into account even a little bulge is a good amount. At seventeen it does make sense that her body would be more filled out compared to her younger allies. There's also a scene where Yuri got very flustered when Erika was about to read her three sizes so maybe she's got a bigger chest than she looks (though she might just be embarrassed about such personal details). Grade: B- Clothes: Yuri is first seen in her school uniform. Okay, so technically we see her as Cure Moonlight, but I'll get to her outfit later on. Anyway, concerning her school uniform, it consists of a white shirt with a greyish jacket over it and a darker grey skirt. She also wears black socks that go up to her knees (sadly). I really like her uniform as I do like blazers/jackets as it gives off a business woman look. Sadly she doesn't have a necktie, instead having a ribbon around her collar. Her casual clothes aren't bad either. They consist of a tight pink shirt with a white long-sleeved vest/smock on top, tight jeans, and a belt. She also wears white flats with no socks. I know that I'm probably selling it a bit short, but it does look nice on her. She also wears some other clothes during the fashion shows, but those tend to be too fancy or elegant for my tastes. Speaking of fancy and elegant, I should talk about Cure Moonlight's outfit. It's so fancy that she's even wearing one opera glove on her right hand! Other than that, Yuri has a magical outfit that's more ballroom than most magical girls, with a long flowing bottom. The color is a subdued purple, which matches Cure Moonlight being a "Purple Cure" (though it could just as easily be considered "Silver" too, making Cure Moonlight one of the few girls in the franchise with two color themes). Her waist is tied with a large violet ribbon. Her top half is more frilly, and the shoulders look like white wings. She also has a rose on her left chest with a heart-shaped gem on it. She also has white high-heeled boots with blue crosses on them, and they nearly reach her knees. In her powered-up form, due to her outfit becoming completely white, she looks even more swan-like. Grade: B+ Mind Personality: The first time we see Yuri she's introduced to us as Momoka's close friend. Momoka, if you remember, being Erika's older sister. They share a class so when Momoka is out modeling she has Yuri write notes for her. Even with the extra work though she's one of the top students at the school in exam scores. Yuri comes off as more mature and stoic, barely speaking and seeming nearly emotionless at first. She's calm and collected and even a bit cold to the younger girls. In reality though, it's not that she doesn't want friends and instead it's more that she wants to do things for herself and not be a burden to anyone else. She wants to take responsibility so that no one else has to. This stubborn personality also leads to the death of her fairy, Cologne, because she didn't want to go to others for help. After losing the battle with Dark Precure and Sabaku, the main villain in the series, she even became so overcome with grief that she becomes unable to become a Cure once more (though the fact that her crystal shattered is another reason). This moment caused the other three to get dreams about the Heart Tree and finding it, leading Tsubomi, Erika, and Itsuki to all join the Pretty Cure team. At one point, Yuri even stared down Dark Precure WITHOUT the ability to transform, a reckless but very powerful moment for her I think. As for the reasons that Yuri is able to transform later on, she eventually meets Cologne's spirit thanks to plot devices and finally asks for forgiveness from him. Once she is able to return back, it's easy to see why she thought she was able to stand up to the villains alone. She's VERY strong and is likely one of the strongest Precures in the franchise. She's even able to defeat the three "stage bosses" of the big boss that the other girls were having difficulty with. And, realizing her previous mistake, she starts to be a part of the team with the other girls. Through this, she slowly opens up more and more, even going as far as to smile on occasion. She eventually even deals with the sadness of losing her fairy partner while facing herself, accepting both the loss and the emotions along with it. However, that is not the only death Yuri has to deal with. I'll just say that her father (who had been missing prior to the series starting) and an unknown little sister both die in Yuri's arms. Overall I like Yuri. She's my personal favorite precure for multiple reasons but I really like how her story went (even if it is tragic). It also helps that Yuri is an older girl that's a bit of a quiet kuudere as well. I like the way that Aya Hisakawa portrayed Yuri as well, if you don't know she's also the same girl that did Ami/Sailor Mercury. Now she tends to do older female characters, but Yuri was a nice middle of the road voice pitch-wise so it's enjoyable for me. Grade: A- Libido: There's not much here either. Well, other than the subtle yuri between Yuri and Momoka, Erika's older sister and Yuri's classmate. It's probably easier to assume that the two are just close friends though. Fans tend to pair the two though. There's also Dark Precure which has a bit of "foe-yay" with Yuri, but I don't think they have any love between the two of them (at least this kind of love). Yuri also has a cute young admirer named Hayato that gives her a love letter, but it's treated as a one-sided crush. Yuri saw him more as a younger brother as well. Putting my shotacon tendencies aside (and believe me, with that sort of relationship it was hard to), I'd probably say that Momoka is the one that's closest to Yuri. Grade: C Age: Surprisingly, despite the other three girls, and most Precure girls in general, being in their mid teens, Yuri is one of the exceptions. She's the oldest Precure that's still active in her series, being SEVENTEEN years old. And not just her series either, she's pretty much the oldest active Cure in the franchise and the third oldest one in general. She's also a second year high school student. Grade: A- Total Grades: 78 Average score: 8.6 Final Grade: B+ Pizza: Auauauau! Sad families are one of my favorite things! Let me hug you Yuri! : O-Okay? *flustered but accepts the hug* : I'm angry at Topaz, there's like a huge difference between Yuri's score and ours! : It is likely that her age gives her an advantage. : Not to mention she's more mature, wears glasses, AND has a personality he seems to like more. : Still, I'm going to complain to... Hey, has anyone seen Topaz? : Wasn't he just here? : We never did see that one Image-chan. Maybe she captured him. : I don't think that Topaz is that foolish. ===Meanwhile=== *Topaz is back in the main event floor, trying to find the doujns he noticed earlier.* Hmmm, now where were those Boku no Meganekko-Oneesan dojins.... *As Topaz is not paying attention, he walks into a girl that's also not paying attention. She seems to be looking down, and upon knocking into her the hood on her outfit falls off.* My apologies. I wasn't paying attention and-*realizes who it is*.... Chinatsu? : Errr, yes? What are you doing here? Is Kyouko around? : Y-yep, that's exactly why I'm here! *looks nervous* Wait, I recognize that hood. : *gulp.* Chinatsu, are you.... ...Image-chan? *Dun Dun DUNNNNN!*
