As the year approaches its end, it is once again time to think up the conclusion to anime this year. In fact, I watched quite a lot of anime this year, far more than 2011, so expect this to be more accurate than before. Today, I will only brainstorm and plan out some of the candidates for the year's awards, so of course, this isn't final, there are still 2 month left, enough room for anything unexpected to happen, the fall animes still have potential to climb to the top.
Individual Awards
Best Action Award
Lots of competition here. First of all SAO certainly doesn't deserve this, its art and plot were poorly done, nothing controversial here. Among the other actions, Zetsuen no Tempest, Code;Breaker, Psycho-Pass, etc. come to think of it, most of them are released just fall this year perhaps it may still be too early to judge, but I'm almost positive right now that Fate/Zero will win in a crushing victory.
Best Romance Award
This is another of the big genres. To be honest, I thought Little Busters will achieve something like CLANNAD did but looks like the opposite happened. Other than that, the rest are pretty much just banal high school rom-com harems. I still need some time to make up the decision on this one, the candidates I'm primarily considering are: Hyouka, Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Kids on the Slope, Shinsekai Yori, and Kokoro Connect.
Best Comedy Award
I know I know, last year, last last year, and even before that, I gave this to Gintama, and there's really nothing that rivals it. But I'm thinking of giving this prize to something else this year, not because Gintama didn't do well, rather, I guess it would just be good to have something different once in a while, give others a chance, right.
Best Thriller Award
Whew, this is a tough one, let me tell you, the only "horror" anime made this year was Another and it was quite disappointing near the end, so I'm really not sure yet.
Best Slice of Life Award
...Bakuman
Best Sci-Fi Award
...Shinsekai Yori
Components Awards
Most Overrated
Sword Art Online, I don't think anything can be worse. A1 disappointed us big time here, just look at the plainly horrible animation and you'll get a grasp of why it is listed here. The anime also missed some of the very important plot elements, like the explanation of how players will be treated in the real world. Anyways, I don't think anything could be worse.

Best Story Award
Not sure here, perhaps I still have to wait for some time. Fate/Zero did well, Shinsekai Yori is also competent on its mature and developed plot, Bakuman isn't losing either.
Best Animation Award
Fate/Zero lol
Best Art Award
Shinsekai Yori, likely
Male Protagonist Award
hmm this is always hard to decide. Rider (F/Z), Yoshino (Tempest), Taichi (Kokoro Connect) or, you know what, I may just stick with Sakata Gintoki again this year, he's awesome hands down.
Female Protagonist Award
I initially thought of putting saber here, but it is very likely that Saki(SSY) will dominate here.
Antagonist Award
Sakata Kintoki
