I'm gonna think out loud about why I think this dialogue is so good it its beautiful tragedy. Is it's a very pointed truth about falling in love. This dialogue comes from the perspective that hasn't just had their hopes crushed once but several times. It's about falling in love with a girl that was nice and then misinterpreting her niceness for interest. It comes from the perspective of someone bitter and pessimistic about love and being treated kindly, a perspective of someone who doesn't want to get hurt again and therefore changes their perspective to protect themselves from being disappointed. It's a generalization about love that although isn't really true is the only way to protect oneself from getting hurt again.
What a painful truth. I suppose though, the whole idea in finding love is doing that over and over again..and each time forgetting the pain and hurt. So maybe I'm lucky. Or maybe I'm unfortunate. Unlike the protagonist in this anime I don't learn the first or second time around... though this time around I'm starting to feel the same way....that I hate nice girls. Nice girls mislead you. And I suppose in reality, nice girls never really are nice because they actually cause you even more pain by elevating your hopes and then never really crushing them (because they're too nice) but instead lead you on a wishy washy, lukewarm road, making you wonder if it's niceness or affection. If it's just niceness, then stop it. Quit being nice and leave us alone.
As you can tell...I somewhat agree with this dialogue. Though I think in some sense it's a bit too bitter and an over-generalization...but how else can you pick yourself up? I'll leave episode 9 for another day. Also, I think this is based off a light novel and based off the dialgoue it's probably something worthy of reading. After that amazing dialogue the ending song was so well suited.
