My Constant Battle For Favourite, Sasuke or Naruto?OPINIONS AND SPOILERS WILL BE IN THIS, READ NO FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT EITHER OF THOSE. (Picture is not mine, if you want to know where I got it from, click on it.) Do not take any of these opinions seriously, if you wish to discuss them, please do! I'd love to talk about it! Although pretty please don't spoil the series after episode 88, I will cry. My sibling already has spoiled it a little, and I really want to see what happens without being told!
Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki are both huge characters in the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden series, not that I've watched a lot of Shippuden considering being only at episode 88 and watched both movie 1 and 2. Although despite not watching much of Shippuden, my opinion of the two of them has changed from Naruto to Naruto Shippuden quite dramatically. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a huge change to suddenly they became my favourite characters. Neither of them have hit my favourite character spot (Shikamaru, Hinata and Gaara can't be beaten that easily), in fact they're not even in the top five in my favourites. That hasn't changed a bit, they've never been there. What has changed though is how much I like the two characters from the original Naruto series to now in Naruto Shippuden. In the original Naruto series, Naruto out of the two was my favourite. He was an idiot with a cheesy grin and yet he grinned as though he was Chester Cat despite his lonely and dark back story. He was just a little kid trying to normal but couldn't be because of that damned Nine Tales Fox inside of him. I admit, he was a little too much at times, sometimes I wanted to scream at the screen "Naruto that was so stupid that it's not even believable anymore" and then I'd say to myself, it's just a anime, calm down, this is normal in anime world. As soon as they added Sasuke into the mix with Naruto, I loved Naruto's character all the more. He was now a little boy who was not only trying to prove he wasn't evil to the full of the village, now he had someone who he could have a nice little rivalry with. Rivalry's are always hilarious because they just fight over stupid things. Put an already stupid character into a rivalry with the guy who seems to know everything? I fell of my chair quite a few times, believe it! Naruto was the slap-stick character of the rivalry who constantly kept being picked on and yet, saved the day better than Sasuke could, and I absolutely adore these characters in the Shonen genre. Sasuke on the other hand was a jerk. A mean, horrible jerk who constantly annoyed the heck out of me (and Naruto). Sasuke was the character I found Naruto wallpapers for my computer which where all really nice and I'd think "ugh, not you again, why are all yours so nice when I don't like you" and then look for another one. He had the same dark past which turned out lonely because of his brother killing his family. Despite this similarity to Naruto, I hated him. I hated him so much, although not as much as I did Sakura. Why? Simple. He had everything (skills, looks, even a family previously) just like a popular in school would and yet all he could say was "revenge, revenge, revenge" just liked they say "drama, drama, drama." All I wanted to say was "stop whining like a child!" So naturally, I compared him to Naruto next to him who had cried his eyes out and yet still was working harder than Sasuke who to me, was whining instead of working as hard as he could. Being a work-a-holic, I hated that. Although despite this, I could understand why Sasuke acted the way he did, I'd have probably done the same thing in his shoes. After all Sasuke had people to rely on which meant he would be in the habit now, causing him to whine when he actually noticed he didn't unlike Naruto who never started off with it to begin with. I understood this so well, but I still felt he was being childish. For me the only redeeming point with Sasuke for me was that he respected Naruto and treat him as an equal from the very beginning (I'm looking at you, Kiba, Sakura.) until he left the village, even if he hid it. Now in Naruto Shippuden however it has started to reverse, Sasuke is becoming more and more my favourite out of the two of them because suddenly they have reversed characters. Maybe it's the pace of the anime has done this and after I get further into the series, I'll grow back to a Naruto fan. That small little biased opinion on Naruto is clutching for it's dear life because despite Naruto whining about how Sasuke won't come back to the village. I can't hate him like I did younger Sasuke. I can however, hate all the dramatic moments suddenly relating to Sasuke, I mean, I know you want to get him back, but please Naruto stop, you're killing me! I really am worried about your sexual orientation here. Okay, I'm kidding. Although that would be kind amusing. Naruto finds Sasuke again and says "Come back, I love you, even more than ramen" and continues to stalk him until he does. ...I need to stop reading Yaoi, it's killing my mind. Anyway. Sasuke I kind of have a little attachment too now, he's not a small boy anymore. He's grown up just as much as Naruto had when they both where on the same team together (let's face it, Naruto was more independent than Sasuke), naturally in a different way because of the different environment, and I love seeing that difference of personality in Sasuke. He's not only not whining, he's has an attitude. Now people can think, "oh she's another girl who likes the bad boys" but that's not the case. Alright, bad boy characters are damn cool, but it really isn't because they're bad boys, it's the psychological mess they're in that gets to me. I'm not a bad boy (I'm a girl, duuh) so I don't have the foggiest idea why they're like they are and stories tell me all the different ideas of why they could be a bad boy. Sasuke's attitude is a bad boy for certain, you see this around episode 52/53 area where he has his first reunion with Naruto after 2 and a half years. I can say, that small of act of friendship still left in him in the second movie, Bonds probably hit me the hardest though. That little twinge of friendship in Sasuke is there and I want that to be developed a lot more than it is now, even if Sasuke never ever comes back to the village. I want him still to respect Naruto's strength just as much as he did when was younger. I'm so glad that was still hinted at, it was the thing I loved about Sasuke the most. If he loses that later in the series, I will want to hit him so badly. I really can't say much about how much I like Sasuke now (although I can say more than in Naruto), because honestly, I haven't seem him enough. I can only judge him from the little glimpses which I've been given. However I can say I've enjoyed all those glimpses so far, whilst Naruto in every episode is started to bug me. Will my love for Sasuke's new character continue? Probably so if his character stays just like it is for a while, and then develops into an even better character. I'm also hoping Naruto will pick up some love too, because I just can't hate the guy! I really don't like the fact I can dislike Naruto at the moment, after all he's the friggin' main character and I can't dislike the main guy on the screen, it'd seem pointless. So, discussions are certainly, open if anyone sees this (ha, no), please feel free to fire away.
