Was reading manga and dealing with boring real life stuff so I didn’t get to play until now. Onto Chihaya’s route!
-Yeah, the mood is so less depressing here.
-Wait, what? I know Akane’s on the same side as Chihaya but I still thought everyone would disappear from the school, like in Kotori’s route. I guess since Kotori was a sole party, she had to the main focus but I get more options with the others. I’m assuming that on Lucia will be in Shizuru’s route and vice versa then.
-Akane says the dog familiars aren’t her’s. Chihaya says the same. So although their side (Gaia?) has the dogs, it’s a possibility that Akane and Chihaya aren’t really summoners. I guess it would be repetitive for two routes to have the same kind of people. Still, you’d think they’d at least know who the dogs belonged to. Akane didn’t and said it’s something she’s “looking into”. I’m going to say that Sakuya is a good possibility.
-Uh, that was a quick invitation to her house. Even Akane thinks so. So cohabitating? …I don’t want Sakuya guarding me as much as he does Chihaya. Though with the way he spoke before, I doubt he’d really do it anyway.
-Akane sums up what Chihaya offered and Chihaya is absolutely shocked. Does she never realize the words coming out of her own mouth? >_<
-Important? I wasn’t really ever in any danger unless I sought it myself and ended up in too deep in Kotori’s route. What have I done here that’s any different there? Is it because I’m a familiar and they (I’m assuming Shizuru and the other familiar hunters) hate my ‘kind’? That doesn’t explain how I’m important, though. Maybe bait for the Key cuz of the ribbon of hers I have?
-Akane was pretty shocked when I told her that Shizuru herself just spoke to me a bit ago before leaving. This apparently complicates things.
-I suppose with the club itself still kind of functional and Akane and Chihaya still at school, Kotarou’s much more at ease and is okay with acting normal.
-Chihaya doesn’t understand why I need to pack. I don’t want to wear Sakuya’s underwear (man, this sounds odd since I’m really a girl) and can’t afford just buying new clothes whenever I want. Ah, the wallets of the rich and brains of those lacking in common sense
-It’s hard to mess with Chihaya about moving in forever and getting married when she doesn’t get the joke. You, Chihaya! Not Sakuya!
-I wonder if the Key would try to follow me to their house or if Sakuya would somehow know and keep her away/try to capture her.
-Naturally, Sakuya doesn’t like the idea of me staying here.
-I gotta give Sakuya credit here. He’s pretty genre savvy. I’ve already done one of those with Kotori. >_>
-Ah shit, Sakuya says I have to pay for anything I break. Naturally, I accidentally break something just after he says it. Stupid power and its always-on function.
-Oddly enough, Chihaya’s room has durable stuff for her super strength. They’re thinking of doing the same for me. It’s almost like baby-proofing for super saiyans…
-Hm, Sakuya had to ponder something and went to compare my arms, just like what I did myself back in Kotori’s route.
-Sakuya could’ve used other words: Strengthened, powered up, etc. Instead he used the same word I use. So it’s not something unique to me if it’s an actual term, then. He knew about it since he met me, apparently. Chihaya doesn’t know about it so I assume her own monstrous strength is not from the same source as mine.
-He tells me that the more I use the power, the more likely I’ll stop being human (which I knew from Kotori’s route). He then advises me to strengthen my left hand too so that it’s more balanced when/if I fight familiars. He’d rather I stay in their house and let myself be protected, though.
-I suppose that means that my Rewrite ability has nothing to do with the Key’s ribbon of life, then.
-Sakuya decided to show me how weak I am and how useless my aurora blade thing against him. And that’s his reasoning on why I should just stay put and be protected.
-He’s still unnaturally strong even if I have little combat experience. He doesn’t answer the question really though when I ask what is he. Maybe he’ll train me.
-Yeah, I know Kotori’s neutral but the fact that she has the key means she ends up becoming the enemy to both, right?
-At least I don’t have to hide any of my abilities around Chihaya and Sakuya since they both know about it now. I bet Akane knows too.
-I hope the fact that they’re not red means that these dogs won’t try to kill me. Maybe they recognize me as an ally since Chihaya’s around. She’s not worried at all.
-Seriously, what is up with her strength? She just pulled a telephone pole out of the ground. Though I guess I was wrong about what I said earlier. She really isn’t worried but she does seem to think getting those dogs away would be a good idea.
-Gaia confirmed. Though I don’t know if she summons anything or not.
-She’s very capable in fighting. She could probably beat me easily. Her strength is just way too much. No wonder she has problems controlling it for normal use, like I did as a kid.
-I wonder if anyone can hear the fight. I mean, a telephone pole being ripped out of the ground and slamming into walls and the ground has got to wake someone up.
-Badass
-Whoever’s sending out these familiar dogs must not be an ally if they’re trying to attack up (or just me). But the familiar hunters shouldn’t have familiars of their own. Someone from Gaia wouldn’t hunt one of their own. Kotori doesn’t have those black dogs as familiars either. I suppose those red-cloaked people are a possibility. I still know nothing about them.
-Kotarou now learns the hard way that overusing his blades uses up his own energy and basically passes out.
-I was kind of surprised to see Akane at Chihaya’s house when I woke up. She’s basically there to scold me for not staying put.
-Oh, so Chihaya’s bandage on my arm isn’t really just a bandage? Nice, glad it protected me from the bite. She tells me to never take it off…
-Sakuya, Akane and Chihaya are talking to themselves as I sleep. They’re trying to figure out who is summoning those dogs. Also, they’re after me. Makes sense, considering they were solely focused on trying to get to me.
-From the things Akane says, she must have a very, very high position on Gaia’s hierarchy.
-Sparkly little blue things floated up from the bottom screen like dandelion seeds at Sakuya’s appearance… What a waste of special effects.
-Aw, no sprite of bedhead Chihaya in her pajamas…
-Uh, okay. So this is where I’ll learn the basics. Also, having Japanese there twice is redundant.
-Ah, so the redundancy is just from Chihaya’s stomach for brains answering me.
-So Kotarou’s parents go here a lot. Hm, what is the story behind his barely home parents anyway? Are they involved with Gaia?
-As an environmental group (that makes familiars to fight the enemy), they do things from make Chihaya plant trees to investigate the ozone hole…
-Sakuya recommends I be in disguise and gives me sunglasses, a hat and boots to change my height. So even in this group, my identity mustn’t be known, huh?
-Oh damn, Sakuya only made me dress up to make me feel stupid! I hate you!!!
-Well, the first part was obvious but the second part’s weird. Who’s the holy woman?
-In other words, Gaia wants the Key to do what it was doing with the singing and turning into a tree and probably wiping out our way of life, if not humanity itself. And the other organization, Guardian, is the one that want to kill the Key and keep the status quo. Technically, Kotori’s original task would be closer to the goals of the Key then.
-To both Kotarou and me, we think this means we’re on the bad side. Akane says that if nothing changes, the world will be destroyed, though. This is still making me think of that foreshadowing way back when from Akane about how right isn’t always…right.
-Choices are: humanity survives but eventually dies anyway because the earth dies or kill off humanity so the earth can live.
-Guardians can have familiars and guns. Lovely.
-Akane is either lying or doesn’t know about Kotori’s position in this war.
-I still don’t see how I’m useful in this.
-I guess that would be the only reason why I’m really of any importance to Gaia. Just my connection to the Key that she somehow knows about. She also whispers to me that it’s already in the palm of my hand and then glances at Sakuya,. Odd, something about him? Also, instead of the Key being in the palm of my hand, it’s more like the adhesive for my entire right arm.
-Training time!
-Meanwhile, Akane is talking to some woman who tells her that the factions within Gaia will change drastically soon. Akane talks about how a male was [past tense!] such a stupid man and how she can now order someone around. Makes her sound like some kind of evil puppet master pulling strings.
Training by playing the card game Speed is not what I was expecting. I’m supposed to learn how to become ambidextrous.
-I moved my rune gear another notch. Although I now think of it more as a clock and tried to imagine minute and second hands. It’s at the 9 o’clock point right now.
-Sakuya won’t reveal why he knows so much about Rewriting. No surprise there. Chihaya knows a bit but also doesn’t tell me.
-If there’s one thing Yugioh: The Abridged Series taught me, it’s that card games are serious business.
-I asked Sakuya if he liked Chihaya and he told me that he does not because he’s too old…and that he has no right to want such a thing. I don’t think it’s something as simple as being forbidden because he’s her butler but something darker. Maybe he did something in the past relating to Chihaya that he can never forgive himself for.
-Instead of telling me to stay away from her, he’s telling me to take care of Chihaya. Huh.
-Oh nice, so that what I’d forgotten back at my house. The two little spirit things. Whoopsie.
-Success at turning my aurora into a giant blade.
-Wow, I’m a lot better at controlling my aurora. I want to try out making a whip and BOOM, I did it.
-Ah, there he is, that guy in the slums who set someone on fire. They’re the ones who trashed my room and scared the crap out of my freeloaders. They’re all complaining about how Japan is so peaceful and it sucks. I can’t imagine these people trying to kill the Key and keep humanity alive as it is right now just because they think it’s the right thing to do. They sound like jerks.
-Examiners? Our research facility?
-Maybe it’s the shade of red they used but this one’s even less menacing than the usual black dogs.
-Decided to take a look at my Memory tab to see if something’s changed. They haven’t gone over some of it in the actual dialogue yet so this is pretty interesting. She’s highly skilled but excluded from Gaia’s core, huh? Also has one familiar she uses more than others…
-Oh shit. Just like I’m a familiar created by Kotori, is Sakuya Chihaya’s familiar?! O_____O That would explain the whole forbidden to love her thing.
-Oh. Well, when I learn that the red on the dogs is because it absorbs what it eats and was the one that killed the people in the forest…not so laughable of a shade anymore.
-This Midou guy is crazy. No problem with killing at all and laughs about it.
-Punch or dodge the dog? Better safe than sorry? I probably don’t have the experience or the strength to take it out myself yet.
-Okay, so that was a bad idea. Quick death for me.
-Urg, I sliced it in half and the blood of its victims showered me…
-From the way Chihaya and Sakuya sounded when they said that Gil and Pani can talk, maybe I’m wrong on the theory that Sakuya is like me.
-I was thinking that last line there before I even read it. Why and how is he my friend?
-Gaia had a familiar research facility that created Gil and Pami’s mom.
-Summoners that died in the accident at the facility + failed familiars = those two photosynethetic familiars
-Okay, so Chihaya’s group are the moderates and the red-cloaked guys are extremists.
-Sakuya is distressed over the fact that I’m not allowed in Chihaya’s room because I’m a guy while it’s okay for Sakuya to enter, which means I’m more of a man in her eyes. orz
-Ah, back to school. This may be Chihaya’s route but Yoshino’s still in it and he still has feelings for Kotori so he’s worried about her disappearance.
-Kotarou can’t check out Kotori’s home since he doesn’t want to put her in danger. Ah, if only he knew the truth.
-I explain the situation vaguely to Yoshino and he half understands but still says he’ll never ask me for a duel again. I suppose that’s better than before, where he absolutely shunned me until I had to kick the back of his knees.
-At least the outcome with Inoue being alive and transferring is still the same. I was afraid she was eaten by the dog.
-Sakuya is still such a bastard. Making me do that weird bamboo dance training at irregular rhythms as he throws stuff at me from above and telling me to use my power.
-Well…at least Chihaya can make good sandwiches. A bitter miso soup sounds disgusting, though.
-That’s the taste of the tofu in the miso soup, apparently. What, did she try to make them from scratch or something?
-After a two hour nap (sounds like me), it’s time to investigate the school with the two familiars and Chihaya!
My strongest impression of Chihaya’s route is that doesn’t really tug at my heartstrings. It’s not as emotional at all and, for me, Kotori was a favorite of mine at the very beginning. Chihaya was probably one of my least favorite. I don’t hate her or anything but I’m not really attached to her in her own route either.
Chihaya route
-Before the day actually starts, Kotarou remembers something that makes him wonder why we can’t grow without being tested. He then wakes up with dehydrated and with snot build-up in his nose. Lovely.
-Already, the beginning of the route is very different from Kotori’s. I could feel the desperation and loneliness before but in Chihaya’s route, it’s starting off pretty calm. Kotarou knows that his group is missing but he’s just kind of seeing where things go.
-Also, at least Yoshino and I seem to have the sniffles.
-My overusing of my power is definitely playing into effect here. I pushed Yoshino too much by accident and pissed him off.
-Ah, so not everyone is good. Shizuru is here at school. How unexpected. In Kotori’s route, Shizuru was the only girl besides Kotori who even showed up and not even her sprite! Though here, Shizuru is saying farewell to me. I still wouldn’t be surprised if she shows up at the end of Chihaya’s route.
