Since I have to do the common route over again to redo the choices, I’ll make this entry to jot down anything interesting that I may have missed (not chosen) in my first playthrough along with obvious results of my choices that impact the route. Knowing what I know already from Kotori’s route (the whole familiar thing, particularly), it’s going to be odd seeing how the other girls’ routes play out. I’ll be mostly using the Skip option, though.
-Well, now I know why.
-I guess I’ll do Chihaya’s route. Even though she’s not all there. I’ll just get it over with. Just watch me eat my words and end up crying over her and loving her character by the end. Also, I’m not following a guide so hopefully my decision to explore choices that I previously didn’t do in the common route won’t accidentally send me to Lucia’s or Shizuru’s route. If it does…I guess I’ll just go with what I’ve done. Hope that doesn’t happen, though. Choosing mostly Chihaya choices and ending up one someone else’s will probably mean I chose their Bad End choice at some point.
-So I was on his radar from the very beginning. I wonder why, considering at this point, there wasn’t anything about me that would interest him.
-Odd that I think he seems familiar. Too bad I can’t tell if this was originally in the dialogue at the beginning or if this is added on after Kotori’s route and my memories are “leaking” from it. It happened in Little Busters so I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened in Rewrite as well.
-Odd, my high school never had a first school civil war, much less third.
-Well, it wasn’t midnight but that will happen to Yoshino and me in a few days on this playthrough…
-One good thing about revisiting the common route and choosing other options that have nothing to do with routes is that it’s adding friends to my Friend List. I got a quest from the Suzukis too.
-Ah, here we are. The question for Akane’s questionnaire that I had no real options to answer last time I was here.
-Look at that, it looks entirely different from all the other choices in the game. The questions also appeared with a light going by very similar to Shirou’s Trace ability from Fate/Stay Night.
-I’m kind of worried and curious on what will happen if I choose that.
-Eh, I’ll see if it goes anywhere and choose “myself”. I put a save point there anyway.
-Uwa, what kind of rumors have people created of me? This is horrible. Lucia doesn’t take it well either.
-Uh, nice rolling of the R, there. Not exactly normal, but okay. Maybe it’s concidence and I’m just overreacting but I want to say this has something to do with her secret identity, especially since probably everyone in this game has a big secret.
-…Thanks, Kotori. Our barely patched together peace has now been torn apart.
-Oh wow, Lucia actually didn’t hear Kotori’s comment. Lucky…
-Why won’t Lucia let anyone eat her food…?
-The spicy jalapeno popper filled with spicy sauce from a shady store is just “rather spicy”. She must not have taste buds.
-I burst into laughter when I heard someone come into the room as I’m…sniffing Lucia’s empty bentou box.
-Yeah, but please stop acting like I’m doing this to be kind of you. I’m trying to make you a show and get cash from it…
-…If Lucia just had a normal sense of taste, none of this would ever happen…
-Well, at least for once, it’s not just me staring in amazement as she eats spicy food. She can’t beat up all of us.
-Oh my god, it’s “a little spicy”.
-I can’t believe she saw a special menu item (mapo tofu, at that), saw me crying on the floor with swollen lips and thinks it’s because I was offended.
-…and Lucia comes in at the worst point again, seeing a bunch of guys lick her plate.
-WHY ARE YOU BLAMING ME FOR WHAT THEY’RE DOING?! That’s not fair, Lucia!
-Oh my god, the whole plate-licking is actually a quest.
-Her yelling still annoys me a lot but now that I’ve hung out (?) with Lucia more this time around in the common route, I am more curious about her. But…I’ll stick with what I said and do Chihaya’s route first. Then Lucia’s since. I’ll leave the two that needed to be unlocked for last since there must be a good reason they were locked in the first place.
-Shizuru’s imagination is at it again.
-Oh, nice small change! Originally when Sakuya returned Chihaya’s coin purse, I saw nothing. Now that I’ve enhanced my eyes a few days ago, I can see what he did now!
-Well, this is fun! Make your own remix of Yoshino!
-Urg, this guy is such a bastard. I hope I’m not the only one seeing how much he treats me like crap.
-Okay, fine. He did actually get me decent food.
-Cool, a planned sleepover to investigate the midnight alternate dimension at the school.
-Uwa, that sounds like something straight out of Steins;Gate there.
-It’s odd because Lucia ate Sakuya’s bentou just fine but she seems to hesitate at the nabe. What’s up with that?
-What the hell kind of movie did Akane rent? Demolition and elephants?

-Damn, if I didn’t have to have a professional voicemail for serious reasons, I’d want one like this. I’d probably skip the evil/slow down part at the end, though. Creepy, Akane.
-Akane has way too many voicemails. I’m not even sure it’s possible to have more than one.
-Ah shit, naturally I end up in the gray city/alternate dimension when there’s no one with me to prove it.
-So…I try to go down some stairs but they end abruptly with a metal door. This is on the other side. I basically repeated Kotarou’s words.
-Oooookay, something flying around me and laughing so it can’t be a bird or bat.
-It was cackling and saying it wanted my blood so I punched it.
-So, it kind of looks like a fairy or spirit. A baby-sized nature-y one…that wants blood.
-It’s kind of a jerk. It also uses ore-sama so it’s arrogant as hell.
-Luckily, I had to sense to restrain it. Pictures would be good too, though.
-Oho, so it uses boku when it’s knows it’s at my mercy.
-I’m glad these things weren’t in Kotori’s route. I wouldn’t be able to take anything seriously. Not a fan of the drill hairstyle.
-Pami and Gil. If you know me in real life, you know I have an instant dislike for one of these two now.
So they’re not mini vampires or anything. They “eat” water and sunlight like plants which makes sense considering their appearance. What doesn’t make sense is why they’re in a concrete-ish corridor in an endless school corridor at midnight.
-Ew, sympathy pain. I bit the tip of my thumb to give some blood to him but it didn’t work like in manga. So I thought about tearing more into it but got grossed out. Ewwww.
-They’re homeless and born from garbage. They can’t tell me what kind, though. Pani said I’m better off not knowing. Considering how dark Rewrite has been, I wouldn’t be surprised if the “garbage” is something like a dead body.
-How frustrating. Even Akane’s video footage shows nothing out of the ordinary.
-How will these two spirit things react to the Key sneaking into my room…?
-Not that I was expecting a good translation job but even Chihaya is smarter than this thing. It just got one name correct out of an entire sentence. This is like basic, basic Japanese 001 as well.
-I think that first one is new. I’ll do that treeman one though, since it is one that was mentioned in Kotori’s route as if I had done it before.
-Of course I’m the only one to see Kotori’s tree familiar since everyone already left.
-Aw, one of the bigger trees knocked me out and Kotori’s dad brought me back.
-The dialogue with Pani about making that choice in my RPG on saving my friend or dad is important, I bet. I’ll have to make a real decision similar to that, I’m sure.
-Please don’t let that happen. Rhyming names are bad.
-Sakuya basically admitted to there being a dark reason behind why he’s Chihaya’s butler but shares her last name.
-Ha! The power of tsundere characters don’t work on Kotarou! He says that he’ll join and go to their house but acts like she doesn’t want me to go. So he just says that he won’t go then, making her disappointed.
-Aw, of course Yoshino would say yes when I invite him to the gardening thing. Kotori would be there.
-Who’s this mysterious man who told Yoshino to learn about gardening? Sakuya? Otherwise, why would the topic of gardening ever come up with Yoshino?
-And there’s that CG I mentioned that shows up in the opening video. Akane looks uncomfortable there. Kotori looks ridiculously happy.
-Naturally, I protect Chihaya from the falling pot above. I didn’t expect Sakuya to protect us as well, though. It’d be normal enough of that one mysterious song wasn’t playing.
-Even with Kotarou’s dislike of Sakuya, he can’t stand by and let him just ignore the head wound.
-When Sakuya said that it’s really his fault for leaving the pot up there, Kotori let out a confused “Eh?”. Hmm, wonder what that’s about.
-I felt bad when Kotori insisted that, if Sakuya ever gets seriously injured, he go to a hospital. It’s because of what happened to me when we were young…
-Wow, he literally risked his life for Kotori with no hesistation. Good thing it didn’t hit his head, then.
-He’s talking to me normally with no insulting nicknames or anything. I guess he was grateful that I still tried to protect Chihaya. It’s a pretty serious moment with him.
-It was always obvious from the beginning that Sakuya was more than just a butler but the pot thing and this really prove how important Chihaya is to him and the responsibility he has to hold. What kind of danger is she in or what is her importance that she has someone so devoted to her protecting her all the time?
-He said he was made that way and that Kotarou is similar. Kotarou questions if he is, and if he could really throw away his own life away to save someone else. Makes me think of Sakuya being a familiar. I kind of doubt he’s that kind of similar to Kotarou, though. And yes, Kotarou, you definitely can risk your life to save another.
-I’m pretty surprised that they even give me a choice on this. There isn’t a simple Yes choice though.
-Sakuya says I’m interesting in many ways and, as Kotarou said, it sounds sinister.
-Still not entirely sure if I’m heading towards Chihaya’s route or not but all the hints today seem to say so.
-Ah, so Kotori’s “Eh?” from earlier was because Kotori was the one to place that pot on the veranda but Sakuya took the blame.
-Another one of my questions answered. She didn’t think to match her own uniform with the new school at all. >_< I actually facepalmed at this part.
-Oho, is that affection I hear?
-I feel so bad considering what’s going to happen to the club soon and the despair Kotarou goes through.
-After thinking about how Kotarou smiles around Chihaya, he takes from the conversation with Sakuya two days ago and says that if was truck was about to hit her, he’d save her. So at this point, he cares about her enough to sacrifice his life, huh?
-I still prefer Kotori, though~!
-Ew, what? Kotarou’s reaction is basically the same as mine to that line. But Sakuya isn’t joking around.
-He then says he will never take action for anyone other than Chihaya, with a few very rare exceptions and leaves. Huh.
-Huh, at the choice to save Chihaya from falling down a tree, I choose to save her and willingly use my power for the strength to do so. I’m now one notch away from the halfway point. The next day moved the rune gear by at least three so on this playthrough, it’ll definitely be further gone than before.
-By “saving” her, I made the situation worse. She’s angry at me. Eh, she’ll get over it.
-Oh wow, the same set of eyes at the very end of Kotori’s route. So is Chihaya part of Gaia if, as Lucia accused, the dogs are on her side?
-Akane confirms that Shizuru and Lucia are “hunters”.
-Wow, Chihaya was ignored by the dogs but it didn’t really feel like she could be someone who told them to attack Shizuru, Lucia, Kotori and me. It sounds like she’s so sheltered but knows enough about the conflict going on. Despite that, she does just want to be normal and have friends. She surprisingly has things in common with me there.
-If she is someone with dog familiars, that means she’s a summoner. It’s a good guess to say that she (and Akane) are strongly affiliated with Gaia. Although Shizuru and Lucia left, Kotori is still there when I pass out, though. Yet, at least by the beginning of Kotori’s route and probably in this one, something must’ve happened that they all went their separate ways. So they couldn’t get along either despite Chihaya really wanting to. I suppose, for Kotori, there are no negotiations as she must protect the Key or her childhood friend will die too.
-I think Shizuru and Lucia’s group, the Hunters, must be ones the indiscriminately kill any and all familiars. A good familiar is a dead familiar, you know? Got to be the reason why they felt nothing for Chibimoth when they knew I felt something for it. Though that could be because most people who know about familiars think that all familiars are soulless puppets.
It’s confirmed. I’m on Chihaya’s route. I suppose that, after interacting with her more often, I don’t think I’ll be as annoyed as I thought with her route. That bit at the end is sad. Not depressing (i.e. Kotori) but sad. Will continue next time.
Common route skimmed
October 3
-Aw, early in the beginning, I had originally coaxed Kotori back home by using my spare change. Now, since I want to get that other CG I’m missing, I sort of chased her with scissors instead.
-The rune gear definitely looks more blue when barely used. At the halfway point from the previous route, it looked more purple.

October 4
-Urg, it’s Imamiya. The guy who helped me not get scammed in the slums and…the guy who killed Chibimoth. He’d better not become a friend or ally in any of these routes. Getting along with him will not happen. I despise him more than Sakuya.

October 5
-Ha, instead of getting Yoshino to help me find the Occult Research Club, I somehow got an army of Suzukis to help me instead. They found a pamphlet with the ex-President’s number so I’m calling her. Looks like she’s ashamed of her chuunibyou past.

October 7

October 9

October 16
-Urg thanks to my choices, I’m running into Lucia more often. My impression of her is that she yells too much, and it’s always the exact same way. Repetition of synonyms of “pervert and ending with my name all stretched out. Hope this doesn’t happen as much on her own route.
-Oh cool. I’m desperately hoping for Lucia to come to the cafeteria so I don’t have to die from deadly spicy mapo tofu. Screen switches to Lucia’s point of view so the rune gear says her name, has no hands and is a nice shade of purple.
-It’s in third person too.

October 16
-Unlike the last time where I powered up my legs to catch up to the silhouette, I did it to my eyes. End result was the same, meeting with Shizuru at the ramen place. Only difference is that I now know not to mess with my eyes again as it was hard to adjust to.
October 19

October 21
-Ah, I took a long nap in class this day originally. Seems Sakuya barged into school to help a lady and her cat, which interrupted class. This caused some tension between the Class Rep and Chihaya. So that’s why Shizuru said they were in a fight one day.
October 24
-This is the day Chibimoth and I were in the gray city, being chased by dogs. This time, I’m using my power to see if anything changes. By the end of the common route last time, my power was at the halfway point. I want to see if it makes a difference if I use it every opportunity I can before that point.
-When Kotarou thinks to himself that he didn’t need a running start to jump up and will never need one again, I feel kind of guilty for making the decision to use the power.
-Choosing to use my power during the chases gets my leg bit while last time, letting Chibimoth save me let me just be a bit beat up.
October 25
-Huh, so a random schoolgirl also encounted the endless school corridor. I still don’t really know why this happens to me and to others.
October 26

October 27
-So my decision to look for Chihaya (unsuccessfully) on the 25th leads to Kotori bumping into Chihaya and Sakuya, which leads to a bentou lunch together today.

October 28
-Pani inexplicably has the knowledge to build a computer. Also, are her and the guy married?
October 30

November 1
-With the way they’re talking about a pie and working on Chihaya’s garden at home, I have a feeling this is setting up for that group CG I saw in the opening video.

November 3
-Ah, it is Sakuya. Yoshino’s blaming me, saying I did this to humiliate him. Uh, I really don’t know how those two know each other.
-Chihaya and Kotori want a gardening event -> Sakuya wants to learn more about gardening -> He asks Yoshino -> Yoshino asks me
-He owes Sakuya some kind of debt, one he’ll never tell me.
-Sakuya is so annoying. He’d better have some glaring imperfection to him, other than calling me shithead and so on all the time.
-“Et tu, Brute” is now a comedy group. Or at least that’s what I tell Chihaya when she asks what I said.
-Freaking rich people and their caviar sandwiches!
-Kotarou asked for Sakuya’s age, something I actually asked myself quite a while ago. Sadly, he doesn’t answer.
-Oh wow, Chihaya made a sandwich for me. Surprisingly, it tasted pretty good. Aw.

November 5
-I was skipping through the dialogue when Chihaya interrupts me to confirm that I’d come to her house again and invites me. Considering that this is something new, I’d say I’m on the right track with her route.
-Chihaya asked me to come again and I did today. …there’s absolutely no reason for today’s visit…
-Chihaya’s first appearance in Rewrite is finally explained!!! Sakuya had advised Chihaya to be more docile, maybe by bringing a few books with her. She went overboard and brought a huge box stuffed full of them.

November 12
-It’s the second to last day of the common route and Sakuya is in the club room, giving me a stern and serious warning to not pursue this matter of the forest and Inoue’s disappearance if I like my life the way it is.

November 13
-Yup, my rune gear’s gone past the halfway point.
-I wasn’t sure if the vine dragon aimed for Kotori only because I was nearing her route last time but this time confirms that, no matter which girl I’m trying to “get”, Kotori is still the main objective.
-Originally, at the part where Kotori stopped me from attacking the Key, I was then knocked out by Shizuru as she and Lucia escaped and then I passed out with the others around me.
-In this version, I walk back and try to ask for help (too exhausted) but Chihaya is having some kind of glaring stand-off with Shizuru and Lucia. So my guess is they’re from very different organizations that do not get along and that was also part of the reason why they Lucia didn’t get along with Chihaya back at school.
