Aku No Hana | Episode 1."Shut it"
The already infamous anime after episode one.
I haven't seen an anime this collectively hated in a long while or perhaps ever.
The retroscope animation puts me in mind of The Hobbit and the switch to HFR (Higher Frame Rate) which offered a more detailed and realistic picture. At times the animation in this really works it offers vivid backgrounds and adds to the realism of the characters because they look more human rather than animated but just like HFR at times it is too much. It's so realistic that it breaks that fantasy element or in both cases lacks the finer detail (particularly in the face) or mistakes in the animation are more noticeable. I don't hate it but it will take some getting used to.
That aside I'm intrigued in the psychological aspect of the story and the use of sound is fantastic the creepy vibe I got from the beginning that was ramped up right to the end was all down to the sound design as what was happening story wise was relatively normal this episode.
