Back to your school uniform I see. Not too shabby itself. Anyway, it's about time to start the blog proper!
Notice: As of this writing, there have only been 18 chapters of Oto x Maho translated. That's barely even getting into the third book, if even there yet. There at least 13 books, not to mention whatever hasn't been condensed yet. What I'm saying is, there's a LOT of Oto x Maho that hasn't been translated and I shouldn't be expected to know that far in advance. I'll try not to refer to later editions, but I might if I've found something interesting.
Head
Hair: We start with my personal favorite feature of Kanata's, his long flowing hair. It's either a white or a silver color (it gets hard to tell as it's a manga) but that color of hair is my favorite out of all the "lighter" colors. Length-wise his hair goes all the way to his knees, flowing down his neck like a waterfall. His sidecurls reach his shoulders (if not a bit further) and curl in slightly. His bangs are also neat and well-kept. In fact, his family has a tradition that he only gets the his forelock cut while retaining his long hair by only cutting the tips. I do appreciate this, long hair is really the best. His hair also has a LOT of volume, I'm sure that many girls are jealous of his soft hair. His hair also reminds me of Masuzu Natsukawa from Oreshura (or rather, the other way around as I was familiar with Oto x Maho before Oreshura).
As far as other hair styles, the main one you'll probably waiting for is Kanata's twintails. As a magical "girl" Kanata's hair changes its style into two long side-pigtails. He even gets two ribbons tied in a bow to hold them up! I will say that I don't like it very much, I prefer long hair to be free so that it blows in the wind and such. There's also the fact that in magical form he's been compared to Hatsune Miku, another character with long side-ponytails. There's only a few other minor hair styles that he's had. One is that in flashbacks he seems to have a bob cut. I don't dislike it, it IS cute, but I prefer him with long hair. There's also a title page where he has his hair up in a ponytail. It looks cute and shows off the back of his neck nicely, though you could easily misjudge the length of his hair like that. It is easier for him to clean out storage and I wouldn't want his hair to be damaged so I'm alright with it.
Grade: A-
Eyes: Kanata's eyes are pretty nice. They're circular in shape and seem deep. They're a dark blue color, which may relate to his powers as a magical "girl" (as he's linked to the sky in some way). However, we see him more with a shades of grey instead because this is a manga. There's occasions where we see his eyes colored, but for the majority of the series it's in black and white. I might even like that coloring a bit better as the darker (in comparison) eyes work well with his light hair. I will say that he has very moe eyes as well, they tear up wonderfully when he's embarrassed.
Grade: B
Face: He has soft features and a small nose, both pluses. His cheeks are nice when he's blushing, and he gets embarrassed easily. He's mostly gentle and would normally smile a nice simple grin most of the time. However, due to his classmates, Moeru, and others continuing pestering him with perverse words he shows a lot of negative emotion. He scowls and screams at them, though considering some of the things that they do it's well within his rights.
As much as I like the art style though, I will accept that it's not exactly a, well, outstanding one. There are times when Kanata's face (as well as the other character's) will become off model or such. Not in the chibi-intentional way either. The faces seem to be flexible and occasionally it seems like he has a large mouth. It's not completely like that, and I'm sure that the art is improved in the later issues, but I felt that it was worth a mention.
Grade: B-
Body
Build: Kanata is definitely a trap. Even when not crossdressing he could be considered a trap with his long hair and feminine appearance. He's slender as well, with a cute belly button and stomach. His waist is also strangely feminine, narrowing before his hips ever so slighty. His butt is on display a bit and while it's not as full as most girl's it is a pretty nice backside. His thighs are slender as well, as are his arms, but as a teenage boy that should be expected. He even has a cute bulge (though we'll likely never see his "manhood"). *ahem* That's probably more detail than I needed to go into, is there anything you'd like to share, Moeru?

Ah, just messing with you. Don't worry, Kanata. Anyway, to finish this off I'll give out the only known statistic for Kanata. He's 143 cm tall and seems to not have grown in two years. I don't know how accurate this is, but it's probably true as most of the other characters (even a girl the same age as him) are taller than he is.
Grade: B
Breasts: Kanata is flat. Granted he is, you know, A BOY, so that makes sense. I really should rate guys differently, but that seems like too much effort just for a once-a-year special. His chest IS nice, it even looks feminine rather than muscular, but since he's not busty I can't give him a good score.
I've heard that in a later book Kanata might get breasts for one reason or another, but I doubt that. Besides, he'd more likely take after his mother and be as flat as a board even when female.
Grade: D
Clothes: Kanata wears a variety of outfits. First, like most school-based series, his main outfit is his school uniform-a BOYS uniform, of course. It consists of a white shirt with a blue vest over it, blue pants, and a necktie. The neckhole of the vest is about to where his breastbone ends and makes a V-shaped opening. In the series (as far as I've seen it) he doesn't officially wear the girl's uniform but in a comparison omake he does. It's pretty similar, with the only exceptions being that the vest is a blazer, they were skirts rather than pants, and the tie is replaced with a ribbon. Speaking of Omakes, in one Kanata is cosplaying as "Milion Belle" a in-series magical girl anime. It reminds me a bit of Moetan as it's nearly school-swimsuit like, with cute ribbons and a bell around the neck. It also has thigh-high dark socks and elbow gloves.
On the topic of Magical girl outfits, I should discuss Kanata's actual outfit. He just needs to utter his origin phrase ("Spread Widely, To the End of the Sky!) to change. And the transformation scenes are usually very erotic (for a trap-lover like me). As for the outfit itself, it's not too outlandish. It consists of a long-sleeved shirt, a tie, a miniskirt, and spats. He also wears white socks and black shoes with it. He also has his staff, "Over There" (yes, that's pretty much the name of it) which is about as long as he is tall with an orb at the end that holds his magical power. I really like his magical girl outfit, more of them need spats I think. Especially if they give them a snap like Kanata did when he first put them on.

Even better is that the skirt is "created" last so there's times where he's just wearing a shirt and spats. There's also a couple other outfits, usually pointing towards some kind of upgrade, but the manga is not that far yet so I can't describe them.
As far as other clothes go, Kanata is somewhat fashionable. He was complimented in an omake comic on his choice of casual clothes as a model recommends them (a female one though). He also wore quite a few outfits for the cultural festival. These include a butler-like male uniform with an apron, a maid outfit, a short-skirted waitress, a more "japanese" waitress-type outfit (with a checkered top and long skirt), and a wedding dress-like outfit with a cute flower in his hair.
Grade: A
Mind
Personality: Kanata was strong-armed into becoming a magical girl, or Tuner, by his mother. She was going on a world trip and needed someone to replace her. Not only that, but she reveals that their pet cat, Moeru, is actually her familiar and can talk. He is even forced to fight as if he doesn't he'll get transformed into a girl (while the girls would be transformed into boys). That said, Kanata is a decent tuner. He usually fills himself with magical energy and fights using his staff as a blunt weapon or as a throwing item (which is a bad idea as it's also the thing that lets him transform). He'll even throw people if given the opportunity! His attacks include Blue Trail, a slash or beam shot out of his staff (it depends on if he's swinging it or not) while he also has Blue Spiral which is more of an area-burst attack.
As for his not-tuner work, he's a pretty friendly person though he hides a secret. One thing that I found really great about Kanata is that he isn't just a trap. N-no, listen to this, it won't be perverse. What I mean is that they actually go into what his life was like and how it affected others around him. He was brought up by both a male and a female (depending on his age) by his mother, who I presume is single as I haven't heard anything about his father. This confused neighbors as his gender seemed to change at various events. Not only that, but the series also delves into the mental state of Kanata being very androgynous. Others unable to identify with his "lack" of gender distinctions, but due to his out of the ordinary hair color he was ignored. They didn't have ill will, nor did Kanata hate himself either, but it was very hard for him to make friends until junior high. He just felt so different from the others that it ate at him. I will admit that this could have been written better, but I do love stories of gender identity and confusion. He even comes out and asks if his friends like him just because of his appearance. They say yes, but it's more because then he wouldn't be the Kanata that they love. He then gets the strength to face the darkness in his heart and win.
Grade: B+
Libido: Only partially surprising, Kanata is probably the LEAST perverse character in the series. I say "partially" as that does tend to happen to traps. It's more likely to have other characters get crushes on him than the other way around. And man, Kanata gets a LOT of creepy and unwelcome sexual lust pointed in his direction. First there's his best male friend Jou. They were first introduced when Jou confessed and wanted to date Kanata who then refused by pointing out they're the same gender. Despite this, Jou still has an observation diary of Kanata as well as making figures of him. Yes, there's a line and yes, he crossed it, leading Kanata to kick the stuffing out of him. There's also Moeru, who you've met.

But don't think that only guys like Kanata, he seems quite popular with girls as well. The class rep (no name given), a sweet pigtail-wearing meganekko, loves to tease Kanata or think perverse thoughts. She has a nice scene assaulting his ear with her tongue that I found incredibly delicious. Yori-san originally had shipskin with him, but that was only when she thought Kanata was a girl (it's unknown if this is continued further, though she does like using her "forced clothing change" on him during a chapter). And then there's Ruma. There's certainly SOMETHING there with her, and I think it's implied that the two are the main couple as well. She even gets all flustered when he's around.

Age: Kanata is a 13 year old boy. This area is another point where my usual classification fails the "trap" blog. You see, I do like younger guys more than older ones. 12-15 is probably my preferred area, and yes I know that makes me a shotacon (sorta, at least). I can't help enjoying seeing a girly guy getting overtaken by an older woman. Thus, even though Kanata didn't score well here I still like how old he is. Middle school boys are the best ♥.

Not only that, but Kanata is probably my FAVORITE trap (that crossdresses on more than one occasion, at least), and is in the top five male favorite characters from Japanese anime/manga. I just wish that it was updated more regularly, the last chapter took over two years behind the scenes. I'm not cursing the translators, they're doing their best as raws are rare. There's also the fact that in magical form he's been compared to Hatsune Miku, another character with long side-ponytails. There's only a few other minor hair styles that he's had. One is that in flashbacks he seems to have a bob cut. I don't dislike it, it IS cute, but I prefer him with long hair. There's also a title page where he has his hair up in a ponytail. It looks cute and shows off the back of his neck nicely, though you could easily misjudge the length of his hair like that. It is easier for him to clean out storage and I wouldn't want his hair to be damaged so I'm alright with it.

Eyes: Kanata's eyes are pretty nice. They're circular in shape and seem deep. They're a dark blue color, which may relate to his powers as a magical "girl" (as he's linked to the sky in some way). However, we see him more with a shades of grey instead because this is a manga. There's occasions where we see his eyes colored, but for the majority of the series it's in black and white. I might even like that coloring a bit better as the darker (in comparison) eyes work well with his light hair. I will say that he has very moe eyes as well, they tear up wonderfully when he's embarrassed.

Face: He has soft features and a small nose, both pluses. His cheeks are nice when he's blushing, and he gets embarrassed easily. He's mostly gentle and would normally smile a nice simple grin most of the time. However, due to his classmates, Moeru, and others continuing pestering him with perverse words he shows a lot of negative emotion. He scowls and screams at them, though considering some of the things that they do it's well within his rights.
As much as I like the art style though, I will accept that it's not exactly a, well, outstanding one. There are times when Kanata's face (as well as the other character's) will become off model or such. Not in the chibi-intentional way either. The faces seem to be flexible and occasionally it seems like he has a large mouth. It's not completely like that, and I'm sure that the art is improved in the later issues, but I felt that it was worth a mention.

Body
Build: Kanata is definitely a trap. Even when not crossdressing he could be considered a trap with his long hair and feminine appearance. He's slender as well, with a cute belly button and stomach. His waist is also strangely feminine, narrowing before his hips ever so slighty. His butt is on display a bit and while it's not as full as most girl's it is a pretty nice backside. His thighs are slender as well, as are his arms, but as a teenage boy that should be expected. He even has a cute bulge (though we'll likely never see his "manhood"). *ahem* That's probably more detail than I needed to go into, is there anything you'd like to share, Moeru?

Ah, just messing with you. Don't worry, Kanata. Anyway, to finish this off I'll give out the only known statistic for Kanata. He's 143 cm tall and seems to not have grown in two years. I don't know how accurate this is, but it's probably true as most of the other characters (even a girl the same age as him) are taller than he is.

Breasts: Kanata is flat. Granted he is, you know, A BOY, so that makes sense. I really should rate guys differently, but that seems like too much effort just for a once-a-year special. His chest IS nice, it even looks feminine rather than muscular, but since he's not busty I can't give him a good score.
I've heard that in a later book Kanata might get breasts for one reason or another, but I doubt that. Besides, he'd more likely take after his mother and be as flat as a board even when female.

Clothes: Kanata wears a variety of outfits. First, like most school-based series, his main outfit is his school uniform-a BOYS uniform, of course. It consists of a white shirt with a blue vest over it, blue pants, and a necktie. The neckhole of the vest is about to where his breastbone ends and makes a V-shaped opening. In the series (as far as I've seen it) he doesn't officially wear the girl's uniform but in a comparison omake he does. It's pretty similar, with the only exceptions being that the vest is a blazer, they were skirts rather than pants, and the tie is replaced with a ribbon. Speaking of Omakes, in one Kanata is cosplaying as "Milion Belle" a in-series magical girl anime. It reminds me a bit of Moetan as it's nearly school-swimsuit like, with cute ribbons and a bell around the neck. It also has thigh-high dark socks and elbow gloves.
On the topic of Magical girl outfits, I should discuss Kanata's actual outfit. He just needs to utter his origin phrase ("Spread Widely, To the End of the Sky!) to change. And the transformation scenes are usually very erotic (for a trap-lover like me). As for the outfit itself, it's not too outlandish. It consists of a long-sleeved shirt, a tie, a miniskirt, and spats. He also wears white socks and black shoes with it. He also has his staff, "Over There" (yes, that's pretty much the name of it) which is about as long as he is tall with an orb at the end that holds his magical power. I really like his magical girl outfit, more of them need spats I think. Especially if they give them a snap like Kanata did when he first put them on.

But don't think that only guys like Kanata, he seems quite popular with girls as well. The class rep (no name given), a sweet pigtail-wearing meganekko, loves to tease Kanata or think perverse thoughts. She has a nice scene assaulting his ear with her tongue that I found incredibly delicious. Yori-san originally had shipskin with him, but that was only when she thought Kanata was a girl (it's unknown if this is continued further, though she does like using her "forced clothing change" on him during a chapter). And then there's Ruma. There's certainly SOMETHING there with her, and I think it's implied that the two are the main couple as well. She even gets all flustered when he's around.

Age: Kanata is a 13 year old boy. This area is another point where my usual classification fails the "trap" blog. You see, I do like younger guys more than older ones. 12-15 is probably my preferred area, and yes I know that makes me a shotacon (sorta, at least). I can't help enjoying seeing a girly guy getting overtaken by an older woman. Thus, even though Kanata didn't score well here I still like how old he is. Middle school boys are the best ♥.

It isn't, especially for a boy like you. I'm sure that you'd score better if I could customize "chest" and "age". Not only that, but Kanata is probably my FAVORITE trap (that crossdresses on more than one occasion, at least), and is in the top five male favorite characters from Japanese anime/manga. I just wish that it was updated more regularly, the last chapter took over two years behind the scenes. I'm not cursing the translators, they're doing their best as raws are rare. In closing, ever since I saw Kanata and his story I wanted to feature him in this blog. Now if you excuse me, I have a purchase to make. *Starts to walk downstairs*.
