This blog entry is still very much under construction As I plan to do in-depth anime reviews, I want to make it clear that there are various ground rules that I am going to set for myself about anime itself. I thought a long time about it, what makes a good anime? These are the things I personally think it takes to make a good story. In the end though, my reviews will ultimately be my opinion, but I wont make any decisions without a good reason or simply because I feel like it. That being said, I want anyone reading this to know that my reviews will be based on critical analysis foremost, and my biases will hopefully be secondary. Most important things in my opinion, going from most important to least important. Engagement: If you arent engaged and invested in the story, everything falls apart. I believe you have to keep a series engaging in order to make it a good one. One that is too dense or just plain boring will ultimately crumble, even if everything else happens to be good. That being said however, what I might find engaging may be completely different from what somebody else might find engaging. Plot and consistency: I hate plot holes, if things dont make sense in my mind or if things are left unexplained, I tend to lose interest and respect. I may be nit-picky, but I believe having a structurally sound plot is extremely important. Now, I am all for the concept of suspension of disbelief, I am definitely willing to believe things that might not happen in our world. As long as the events of the story and the actions of the characters make reasonable logical sense, and are structurally sound, we're all good.
