I received the first “Zetsuen no Tempest”/”Blast of Tempest” Blu-ray disc today, Aniplex ANZX/ZB 6951. In the box were the Blu-ray disc containing the first two episodes and a character song CD with a song sung by the two lead actors. The Blu-ray also contains narration for the first episode and a special filming of a preview screening in August of 2012 followed by an introduction in Shinjuku of the ending song. The writing on the box and on the inner disc holder is all in English, calling it “The Civilization Blaster – Blast of Tempest – 1 The First”. The credits are also in English. An illustration of Yoshino, holding Hakaze's wooden doll, is on the outer box. The inner disc holder has pencil sketches of the main characters on front and back, and of Yoshino on the inside. The first two episodes look and sound spectacular. It was great to see them again and to enjoy all the little details as well as the main action. The special presentation is interesting in the sense of noticing the focus – the theatre preview was hosted by the producer and featured the voice actors for Mahiro and Yoshino, with the voice actor for Samon showing up after the screening and joining in then in a question and answer period. The camera scans of the audience of around 1000 people gave the appearance that around 3/4s were girls. The voice actors were then driven over to the unveiling of the main ad in Shinjuku and the ad for the ending song. The voice actress for Aika, and also the singer of the first ending theme, was there and was joined by the guys for a short Q&A. It appeared that most of the audience in the Shinjuku unveiling were guys. I'm not impressed by the character song, although the voice actors do an adequate job. There is also a karaoke version along with the vocal – the lyrics are in the 10-page booklet. The booklet also contains info on the first two episodes and character pages for Yoshino and Mahiro. BTW – the front and back covers of the booklet are also in English. A funny thing – the instructions for getting out the overlapping discs from the disc box are illustrated with Samon looking serious and describing what to do. In any event, it's a great addition to my collection, if only for the scenes and images of Aika looking so painfully beautiful in the first two episodes.
